Does a ripped cd onto a digital format sound better than the cd played on the cdp
melmYes, that's exactly it. It's counter intuitiveThat a digital signal can be corrupted, and a 1 read as a 0, does not mean that the digital signal is analog. Not even close.
A very good ENGINEERING explanation of why analog can not be as good as digital..
teo_audio If one wants to equal the inter channel timing of transients and phase coherence that an LP is capable of, the minimum is an appoximate 7 million sample per second rate, at about a minimum of 20 bits of depth and with absolutely z...

elizabethThe 15ips thing caught my eye... On a tape machine.. with it running at 15ips.. Well each magnetized particle of material on the tape could be thought of as a ON/OFF digital particle. So one could calculate the number of magnetized indivi...

teo_audioIt is said that to equal an LP, a digital system would have to sample at minimum of 7 million samples a second, and with ~zero jitter~ in that spec to be met. Other than you, who has made this claim? You're suggesting that an LP can ...

stevechamThe sampling rate of lacquer/metal/vinyl is the number of polymer molecules flying past the stylus at the outer edge, ~15 ips, to ~ 8 ips at the inner part of the groove. That number is astronomical and blows away any conceivable, let al...

ivan_nosnibor When traveling in a wire, digital signals are in an analog form, not "ones and zeros", and are as subject to noise and distortions as much as about any other analog signal. If a digital signal is not comprised of "ones and zeros,...
No right channel in new cartridge
tochsii ... the dead channel follows when I reverse the leads. That would mean it’s the cartridge? It's either the cartridge, or the wiring between the cartridge and your phono section. That could mean the wiring in your pickup arm or the cable g...
No right channel in new cartridge
Try reversing the leads from your turntable to your phono section. Does the dead channel follow the reversal? If not, you can be sure the problem is not the cartridge. i bought it here(all positives on the seller) & it only had 10 hours on it....
Electrostatic Speakers
davidclarke Am I within my reasonable rights to sue these guys? Is your dealer willing to intervene on your behalf? Are the speakers under warranty?

mrs_pptFirst of all, power factor is a joke. It's from around the turn of the last century. Power factor is not a joke. To be fair, it's not a common problem with residential service, but that doesn't mean it can't be an issue. My PF holds at a r...
To buy grounded or not to buy grounded. That is the question.
jea48 2 wire cord with 3 wire Plug and 3 wire IEC female connector. The female IEC connector would have to be a 3 wire. A 2 wire female IEC connector would not connect to a 3 wire IEC male connector on a piece of equipment designed to be grounded...

csontos Not an Oracle. Definitely Dual. I bought one of the 2 first Oracle tables in '78. The name tag read 'Alexandria', later to be renamed the DelphiYour memory is failing you. The Oracle Delphi preceded the Alexandria, which was introduced...

kijankFor any signal to be perfectly band limited it would have to extend infinitely in time. I’m not sure what this means, but nothing is perfect. There are many other shortcomings like less than perfect brickwall filters with uneven group delays,...

stereo5I would bet those ungrounded cords are not U L approvedThey're probably UL listed. There's nothing inherently unsafe with a two-prong power cord. It's using it on a device that is designed for a cord with a safety ground that's hazardous. ...

n80If a ground loop is a problem, where do you hear the hum? In the device itself? Through the speakers? You'd hear it through the speakers and/or headphones. even at max volume my speakers are silent when nothing is being played. Does this mean...
