Decided to try a SPU cartridge
boothroyd Preferably a tonearm with an overhang adjustment such as SME’s Horizontal Tracking Adjustment base The SME base allows for adjusting overhang, not HTA. Overhang and HTA are two different things.
Ridiculous resale price of vintage equiment
If you want to accurately assess a market, you have to look at actual sale prices. Taken alone, asking prices mean nothing. An item's market value is the price agreed upon by a willing seller and a willing buyer.
Improving Comcast modem signal
fuzztone Sure you can buy your own. Every person I know of that has done that has reverted. When the signal fails (too often) they always blame you and want to bill you for a visit ... That has not been my experience. I’ve used Net...
Audio nonsense
djones51 ... In this scenario the audiophile is the DUT That is just more confusion about double blind tests. A blind listening test evaluates a Device Under Test, not the listener. The listener (audiophile) is a human. He is not a devic...
Where is Geoff Kait???😢
Geoff? Geoff's not here.
Audio nonsense
cakyol   I can recommend a good audiologist and maybe even a psychiatrist if you are hearing things... This shows a real lack of understanding of how and what we hear. Consider the optical illusion. No consultation with an ophthalmologi...
What's with website?
barryaudiophile My question was about what that makes a website noteworthy and interesting? ... how it captures attention, how it educates ... who better to ask direct question of the the viewers of such sites. ... You’re in an area wher...
Protecting Equipment from Children
"Anyone who hates kids and dogs can't be all bad." (Often attributed to W.C. Fields, but properly credited to Leo Rosten.)
A Suggestion Regarding Removal Of Posts
hickamore   Not censorship, true. But then neither is it a forum when the rules of participation are kept secret and then enforced without explanation by arbitrary whim. Those who complain about the moderators here are almost inva...
For the anal retentive audiophile...a mains frequency tester
larryi ... there is not much you can do about the frequency and any variation would have little effect--it would really only affect a turntable with an AC synchronous motor ... Line frequency is pretty tightly regulated by the NERC, in p...
Any experience with Sound Smith repairing stylus on non-Sound Smith cartridges?
Soundsmith retipped my Monster Cable Sigma Genesis 2000 cartridge (don't laugh, it was made by Zyx) and did a great job. It was not a fast turnaround, but within the time they estimated.
Could this be true, or am I getting the run around.?
That's just simply unacceptable. If Sumiko can't fix it, I'd return the turntable to the dealer for a refund.
Luxman M-900U in bridged mono or McIntosh MC1.25kw with B&W 800 D3
Bridging an amplifier increases power into the one channel but it also increases distortion and reduces the ability to drive low impedance loads. I don't think it's ever the preferred solution.
Dedicated Circuits - Subpanel importance?
ldandslow ... provider voltage drop +/- up to 10% is allowed and set by your utility provider, not the national electrical code. Where I live and in most US states electric utilities are regulated by a Board of Public Utilities or similar enti...
Dedicated Circuits - Subpanel importance?
izjjzi Does a subpanel help? Is it required? ... Perhaps if I can independently ground the subpanel it might make a difference? There's no advantage to a subpanel, imo, unless perhaps it can be located close to your system and simplify the res...
