Songs with excellent advice?
You better duck down the alleyway Look out kid Walk on tip toes Don't try 'No Doz' Stay away from those that carry around a fire hose Keep a clean nose Watch the plain clothes You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows Tr...
Can we create a consensus list of the TONALITY of different amps/preamps/brands?
No.  There is no consensus here even on straightforward issues.
Speakers sounding dull? MUST READ! The truth about speaker design!
@kenjit   Noted you don't tolerate imperfection.  No, you insist on being a total failure. And if you don't tolerate imperfection, how come you don't punctuate correctly? No-one believes a word you say.  I doubt even you do.
Does anyone know where this J. Gordon Holt comes from?
@ghdprentice      That's perceptive and I agree with you.  Whilst misguided producers mess when they record acoustic sound in a space, most try to recapture the original event.  Multiple miking of orchestral symphonies just creates an artificial m...

Hey, which of us DOESN'T want our rig to SOUND LIKE THE REAL THING???
Stupid Asking Prices- Why Don't Sellers Read Audiogon The Blue Book First?
Try not to worry, just leave them alone. But some items do sell for big money because they're collectable.  eg SME 3012 arm, Audio Research SP10 and plenty of others. @oddiofyl   I have a second system because I can't bear to sell my collectable...
Is a home theater even worth it or doable?
In 1998 long before BluRay, I bought a mid-fi 5+1 channel system.  Cost was around £8,000 but the 40 inch screen was £3,500 of that then.  It had a big Denon amp, Ruark speakers, REL sub, Panasonic player.  The screen blew after 14 years so I boug...
Who else can't sleep the night before their fancy new gears arrive?
@samureyex      I'm sorry, I'm unclear what point you are trying to make, but I'm sure you will perceive your new power cord seems way better than the stock item.
Wayne's Audio Turntable Periphery Stabilizing Outer Ring
@au_lait      Can easily see how your Jamaican records got too much sun. I said bin warped records you can't play.  Warping is a matter of degree.  If they are 'NOT THAT WARPED' then quit complaining and play them as you suggest - EASILY PLAYABLE...
Who else can't sleep the night before their fancy new gears arrive?
@roxy54   I'm saying the same thing in both places.  But I agree it's more to the point in the other thread. Joyful anticipation is a worthwhile experience by itself, but necessarily ends on connecting the new equipment (as it's no longer anticip...
Who else can't sleep the night before their fancy new gears arrive?
@roxy54     Sorry, I'm certainly not intending to be obtuse but it's an important point I am trying to make.  I am not trying to quantify anything. If you refer to my contributions to the current string about the poll on sound perception of chang...
Premium Power Cable Survey: The Results Are IN
@cleeds    My statement was too broad.  I should have said that the survey has no value as a determinant of whether changing power cords can make a difference to sound.  It does have value as an exposition of peoples' opinions. @brianh61   I agre...
Who else can't sleep the night before their fancy new gears arrive?
@roxy54    Not really.  Perhaps regrettably I speak the truth on this.  It is others who persistently refresh the erroneous notion that the sound we perceive is the same as that which leaves the speakers.  As I say elsewhere here recently, hearing...
Wayne's Audio Turntable Periphery Stabilizing Outer Ring
A very ugly solution.  Not elegant at all.  I would hate to have that in my system. Just bin the warped records.
Question: Sound Treatment behind the Listener?
@bdp24  Careful. Google will lead one to AN answer. Probably a lot more than one.
