I need some advise on a shipping disaster. Audiogon's shipping policy and the law are two separate things.
I need some advise on a shipping disaster. While the morality may be the same for professional and non-professional sellers, the laws may not be, depending on where you live. Professional sellers, ie, stores, usually bear the risk of loss in shipping. Non-professionals may not, assuming ...
Sound of cables breaking in? This thread reads like an RSD support group! I am currently breaking in a pair of Gabriel Gold ICs and it is a miserable process. All of the things noted above, but it is about 2 months now and I am hearing some very good things.
Any recent reliable source of Shuguang 845B tubes from China on the Ebay or web sites? As to whether the Psvanes are unreliable, distributors say a lot of things for a lot of reasons, so don’t take anything as gospel. I would ask the Florida guy about his experience with the tubes and see what he says. I’m sure he doesn’t like to be...
New Yggdrasil - First (and second) Impressions I'm glad. Sorry we seemed to get off on the wrong foot back in the thread, but I think you see that this hobby, much like wines, take a lot of listening (tasting) and patience. You just can't prejudge a component by what others say. You see? A...
Any recent reliable source of Shuguang 845B tubes from China on the Ebay or web sites? I just bought the normal 845b whatevers. They were fairly new to the market and they didn't have all those fancy versions yet. I think they work great and sound better than the normal 845s IMO.
Speaker cables from Asia I love my Kharma powercord that I bought from China for $137. I have no doubt it is genuine.
My turntable hates Cat Stevens If it's only one record, it's not your turntable. Let it go. That's the biggest problem I see with vinyl. People get too obsessive about it. I can certainly understand how everyone wants their setup to be as perfect as possible, but in the rea...
Any recent reliable source of Shuguang 845B tubes from China on the Ebay or web sites? I bought mine from atitubeman1. I think he's in Florida. Yes, a few bucks more, but I don't want to have to start shipping back to China and I'd rather pay a bit more for an item that lasts years. But that's me. He has some fancy ones up on Eba...
First investment into a turntable Not to rain on your parade, but your old albums are likely chewed up from whatever they were played on in the past and $2-300 does not exactly equate with "beautiful sound" even from an entry level standpoint. Turntables involve a lot of moving pa...
Article about us Audiophiles: 'Audiophilia Forever' I can't imagine many people taking the time to read through it. Unless you're familiar with the gear, those names mean absolutely nothing. I'm somewhat surprised the New Yorker would publish it.
If I love Elvin jones I'll love.....? Elvin was a force unto himself, quite contrary to the modest and humble man he was in life. But you should also listen to Art Blakey, who played with a raw, primal feel as well. Blakey was incredible.
JBL 4429, deep bass ? People often use the term "deep bass" when what they really mean is a speaker with a high midbass output. Juke boxes are a good example. Tons of midbass, but no real low bass. But people love jukeboxes. They’d probably be happier with one than the...
What are your thoughts about moving up product line(s) within a Company? Like everything else, it depends. When I had my Naim gear, moving up the line in preamps really made a big difference and I know Transparent Cable owners are always saying how much better each upgrade was. But speakers are different, IMO. Somet...
Harbeth Question I think it's the first time I've ever heard someone ask for a speaker to go with their subs rather than the opposite. Sort of like asking for a car to go with my tires. That aside, while you certainly don't need the Monitor 40s, you might consid... |
