Proud Harbeth p3esr owner - need help tweaking/troubleshooting @ghualmr I had no idea you needed 30' of wire! It would set you back a lot more than $2700. Not a good idea. I agree with JJSS49. If you like the Harbeth sound, I would move to a larger model if you have the room for it.
Proud Harbeth p3esr owner - need help tweaking/troubleshooting @ghulamr - I am using a Heed Elixir. 50 wpc. I like it, but I would not describe it as particularly warm. It definitely leans towards the warmer side, but it's not like a tube amp. Maybe you're barking up the wrong tree with the P3s. If you wa...
MM cartridge I had a Rega Exact and I was not a big fan. I thought the sound was kind of lifeless. That said, if you are new to turntables, I think there's a lot to be said for a Rega cart. First of all, you don't have to shim the arm in the back and you wi...
Review: Fritz Heiler’s Carrera BE Bookshelf Speakers I have a pair of Fritz mini-monitors, which are sort of a tribute to the Totem Model 1. I think they are great all-around small speakers. In fact, I bought a pair of Model 1s just to compare and I liked Fritz's better. IMO, many people shy away ...
Proud Harbeth p3esr owner - need help tweaking/troubleshooting @ghulamr - I have the P3 40th and, contrary to everything on the net, I found them to be fussy little bastards and very capable of sounding harsh in some registers. I was going to sell them, but I tried a pair of Purist Posiedon speaker cables and...
The truth...Anyone can consider themselves a consultant, of anything. What qualifies anyone to call themselves an audio reviewer or a music critic or a film critic? Look on You Tube and there are hundreds of people reviewing music, films, audio gear, shaving cream. Fact is, in unlicensed professions, we are free to ...
Good economical used DAC to hunt down I would take a look at the Cambridge dac magic products. Their stuff is generally good sounding and reliable. No need to buy someone else’s headache. At a few hundred dollars, your choices are somewhat limited IMO. I just did a quick search in the...
Upgrade DAC recommendation You don’t mention cables, but if you basically like the sound you have now, you might consider upgrading the IC between your amp and preamp and/or the digital cable unless they’re already top notch. Good cables can really open up the sound, giving...
Cables for Audio Mirror Tubadour III Personally, I would finalize and break in my components before spending a significant amount of money on cables. Otherwise you are just optimizing the sound for components that will be changing in the near future. If you feel compelled to buy so...
Best match for Gershman Black Swans I didn't catch what preamp you are using. Upgrading a preamp can bring huge benefits to the overall quality of a system. I learned this many years ago when I was in my Naim phase. I went to the dealer asking about an amp upgrade and he suggeste...
Dedicated Vinyl system next upgrade? When you are trying to upgrade, I think you need to have a clear picture of what you are trying to improve. Your system looks pretty damn good and, considering everyone here is stabbing in the dark, I would not overlook better speaker cables. I ...
Back to trying to upgrade Harbeth 30.1s I've owned the M30s and now the P3. The Purist Poseidon speaker cables made a dramatic change in the P3s, making them sound much bigger and with deeper, better bass. I never tried them with the M30s, but I think it's worth looking into. Sounds l...
Anyone Using Harbeths with Grilles off? Alan Shaw says grills on give a flatter response. Sometimes you don't want a flatter response. But the difference is admittedly subtle. I prefer Grills off for listening, but grills on for background music while I work.
...bookshelf speakers that sound good at low volume... I would try a Schitt Loki equalizer. Cheap and may work. You will need another pair of ICs, which some people don't want to do. I have one I would let you try if you want. I live in NY as well.
Confused as to where to go next...looking for warmth If you have access to a local dealer, I would try to work with them on achieving what you are looking for. There is a big difference between buying a good component of the internet and putting together a system that you really like. My advice is... |
