Why my CEC TL5100Z can play one ECM cd and not another one?
If every other CD works, and I assume you’ve tried more than these 2 (?) there’s something in that one disc that is screwing up the CEC. If there are problems with several discs, you should return the transport. My EAR Acute wouldn’t play a couple...
if someone can help me......
You said your speakers are new?  If the system sounds that bad, it sounds to me like the speakers just aren’t working in your room. I’ve had that before and I could never fix it. Had to change the speakers until I found something that works and yo...
Decent mid fi with Onkyo tax-nr809
I like the Onkyo integrated. I was running some Harbeth M30s with a $350 Onkyo while my tube amp was being repaired and it wasn’t bad at all.
Amir and Blind Testing
@noske - there were tons of pro amps back then. I mean, Woodstock was in 1969, so they knew how to fill large venues with sound. Crown, QSC, Mac, some others I forgot. Bulletproof gear that could take the punishment of the road.
Amir and Blind Testing
@noske - as I recall, the Japanese receivers were boasting incredible distortion specs in the 70s, but the high-end stuff started becoming more well known in the 80s. And by well known, I mean by a very small percentage of the population who were ...
Let me explain something to you jive turkeys.
No- he digs. I drive a bus
Amir and Blind Testing
We had tons of equipment back in the 70s with the lowest measurable distortion possible. One of the founding principles of high end audio was to prioritize sound over specs.
Intergrated Amp suggestions for B&W 805d4
My real advice is to bring your speakers to a dealer and listen to several amps until you find something you like. If that’s not possible, something with tone controls, like the Mac, might be a good choice.  I see it over and over where people buy...
Burson Audio Rant…
Be thankful that your mistake was very small.  People make mistakes that can cost them everything. I am always grateful when I can buy out of one of my fu’kups for a modest amount of cash.
Amir and Blind Testing
As a side note to my own thread, many people knee-jerk into thinking that Amir thinks high-priced components are BS and cheap Toppings are the shizzle. Not so. He raved about the $4000+ Dan Clark headphones and he uses a $20k Levinson amp with $20...
Power Cable Break In - Such a Change!
I think everyone would like to buy exactly the cable they wanted used at 60% off.  If anyone has some 1M AU24 ICs, I’d definitely be interested.
DAC Merry Go 'Round- why I stopped at Weiss
Playing with new gear can be a lot of fun, but eventually it can turn into more work than it’s worth and you just want to sit back and listen. I don’t think upgrading ever gets out of the audiophiles’ system, but you start balancing against the ef...
Rossini Apex by DCS - Home Audition
I have to say it’s refreshing to see a purchase decision being made after actual audition instead of by comparing what the You Tube crowd says and then imagining you know how it sounds. Unfortunately, listening appears to no longer be the norm, an...
Amir and Blind Testing
Actually- this thread was not about electronic measurements.  It was about Amir’s observation about the human brain and its ability to hear non-existent improvements when switching components because we start listening in an “analytical mode” when...
Accuphase dc37
Wow. Nice stuff. I highly doubt anyone here will be able to answer that question for you, but your dealer should certainly allow you to demo the dac in your system. Not that many Accuphase people here, as far as I can see.
