What are the differences in Tweeter materials?
Getting back to the OP, I think most people break it down to metal domes, fabric domes or ribbons. There are others exotic ones, such as plasma, but that's not really the issue, IMO. Many people seem to think that metal domes are harsh and silk do...
The Demise of the Hi-End Audio Store
I think I remember seeing pictures of some stores somewhere in Asia with boxes of hi-end stuff stacked on the shelves the way Staples does it - but instead of Dell and HP, you have Audio Research and Sonus Faber. I don't remember the brands exactl...
Lay away purchase
As your attorney, I recommend you start drinking heavily. If you want to become a finance company that's your business. I truly hope this turns out well for you. I do.
The Demise of the Hi-End Audio Store
Yeah, it was kind of profound at that. :)
End of lp distortion. What does it sound like
The above advice is all excellent. Just let me add one thing - be careful not to get so hung up on every little thing that it kills your enjoyment of analog. I've seen this happen to a couple of people. I would try your best to get the setup right...
Hand crafted equipment rack?
Not exactly what you speak of, but Quadraspire, which is probably veneer over MDF, works very nicely and allows you to reconfigure the rack at will, simply by replacing the spacer rods with longer or shorter ones. I have one for my AV stuff and an...
Best way to pack and ship a Linn LP 12
The Linn forum has tons of stuff like that. They'll definitely help you out.
The Demise of the Hi-End Audio Store
Then we'll die. And the people who remain can listen to MP3's, view the world through their I-phones and eat at McDonalds. I leave them to it and wish them the best of luck.
The Demise of the Hi-End Audio Store
Nice one, Schubert. So all those who shop at hi-end stores are fools with a lot of money? Pretty broad brush, I would say.
SACD vs Regular CD's
I really tried to make SACD work, but ultimately, I decided to stay with CDs. In my case, I found that multi-function players did not play CDs as well as a dedicated CD player at similar cost. I got as far as a 5K player before giving up. Perhaps ...
Sound Anchor Blue Dots or BluTack??
So it took 3 years to decide what kind of dots to use under your speakers? I'm glad to see you don't rush to judgment. :)
Speaker cables or interconnects??
The A6 is a very nice speaker. Honestly, I think your money would be better spent upgrading your source components. Just the way it is, IMO.
Naim CDX - Aggressive Sound?
I don't know whether the 5i accepts an outboard PS. If it does, I would not hesitate to add it to any Naim component.
Naim CDX - Aggressive Sound?
Adding the XPS2 to the CDX2 will take your breath away. I think. IMO, the CDX2 was really made as a means to eventually upgrade to the XPS2 power supply in steps. The big PS adds so much tonal density and richness that the CDX2 becomes a different...
???Phono Preamp for Rega RP3 W/Elys2 ????
IMO, as you have a sub and some large speakers - and the fact that the Rega is not exactly the most well-isolated player on earth, I would suggest a phono preamp with a subsonic filter. I believe the pro-ject boxes have them, the Bellari as I reca...
