What's your "buy one of these and get it re-tipped" cartridge suggestion for a DL103 fan?
Are there obtainable gems out there that I'm not aware of? Of course there are, but you did not mention the budget.
What is it in MM that can give me goose-bumps? 🤔
Stanton CS-100 WOS and Pickering XSV-5000 can do that. Both are oustanding MM, very rich and sweet sound.
Technics 1200 G a Forever Turntable?
Very nice, indeed. Even your old mk3D will last for another 20 years, so you can imagine. Just stay with Technics, a new SL1200G or even old SP-10mk2 with EPA-100 tonearm in a custom plinth.
Rega Planar 3 : Heavily upgraded yet produces a sound that I don't like
Maybe you need a better turntable?
Recommendations for a modestly priced analog system
Pro-Ject and Rega are the worst turntables on the planet just like the rest of the cheap belt drives today. In the beginning of this thread the OP was thinking about the right direction, but after some useless advises this topic as always goes some...
Technics 1200G VS VPI Prime Signature
I got a damper from KAB ... Fluid damper required ONLY for very high compliance cartridges on this tonearm.
TECHNICS 100th Anniversary 2018 Premium Turntables. Their best ever.
Actually you can use whatever tonearm except for the short "9 inch (most of them must be avoided because of the mounting distance), any "10.5 or "12 inch are perfect. In my opinion Reed tonearms are amazing on SP-10R, I like 3p model. And EPA-100 m...
How to choose the right protractor for my effective tonearm length
Thank you for all the good info to all the responders. I will try out these protractors mentioned. Although the question I'm really trying to ask is how do I know that a protractor is right for my turntable other than the advice of anyone tellin...
Anyone try the replica B-60 Fidelity Research VTA?
I'll get the original Ikeda base in January, hopefully. So I can check then.
Fidelity Research cartridges
Discovered an interesting sample of the Fidelity-Research FR-7fThe cartridge body is silver color just like older FR-7, but the model is FR-7F (which is normally black). Silver body version of the FR-7f must be rare, probably from the first bunch ...
Inexpensive MM Cartridge
@rauliruegas In Russia, where I'm from, we normally break the nose of a person who's saying in public anything you said in your previous posts. But since you have mental problems and almost everyone on audiogon is aware of your mental problems, I ...
Inexpensive MM Cartridge
The elliptical have the advantage of succeeding with less than perfect alignment. That is a reason they are good choice for someone without tools and skills. Only if you can detect it, if you have overhang gauge given by tonearm manufacturer you...
Inexpensive MM Cartridge
@peter_s I am assuming that the AT and the Nagaoka dynamic compliance values are reported for the same frequency. It’s fine if it’s 100hz - I said that was a reasonable assumption (though not stated by Nagaoka) in my post. In any case, I was jus...
Inexpensive MM Cartridge
Chakster. Specs aren't everything. Try listening to the comparisons for once instead of your technical diatribe. I don't ignore specs, but like anything else in this hobby the proof is in the listening. I have had carts you have mentioned speci...
Inexpensive MM Cartridge
chakster - I just want to point out that the dynamic compliance of the AT740 is 10, whereas the Nagaoka is 7.2 (they do not actually state 100hz, but that’s probably a reasonable assumption). On a scale reaching up to 35, the difference b/t 10 and...
