Off center (not bent!) stylus? So it seems to me that as long as a replacement stylus assembly is made with care and with the same materials as the original you can largely replicate the original sound. So sounds like Expert Stylus is where to go for this model! Exactly, let...
Now that I have my Tri-planar tone arm, I ask for recommendations for a new cartridge. @gestalt Industry disclosure: I'm a Miyajima dealer. Interesting, maybe you can help, in another thread I asked people about Otono-Edison Standard Mature Wood MC As you may know the Miyajima is an export brand of Otono-Edison. In Japan the ...

Copper, silver, or gold MC cartridge coils? I wonder why nobody plays around with the wiring of MM or MI cartridges. Higher voltage maybe wire has less effect? They do actually, LC-OFC versus PC-OCC.Grace and Audio-Technica made different versions.
Off center (not bent!) stylus? You will not find genuine Pickering replacement for your XSV/5000 cartridge, this cartridge is extremely rare and genuine stylus is very hard to find. Do not buy fake styli, the goal of the original is Stereohedron MKII stylus profile and Samarium...
Off center (not bent!) stylus? @chakster you mean the stylus / cantilever is damaged not the cartridge, right? And in your experience how do replacement styluses affect performance on this cartridge? (btw I got this cart on your recommendation from a separate thread so thanks!)...
Off center (not bent!) stylus? I have nearly all top Pickering cartridges including your model, nice cartridge, but you must find a new replacement stylus, your cartridge is damaged, this is NOT normal!
Copper, silver, or gold MC cartridge coils? Rock music and Pop music is not the same, completely different genres of music. I don’t even understand how one person can listen to rock and pop. Rockers hates Pop music.
Technics + Jelco + Ortofon 2M Black PNP - headshell not level You don’t need any special headshell with azimuth adjustment on Technics tonearm, you can simply rotate your shell when it’s locked to adjust azimuth. Anyway if it’s not completely off (which is impossible) it will not affect the sound that much, ...
Copper, silver, or gold MC cartridge coils? Since you asked for ZYX: I can say that tried both Silver Coil (Airy 3) and copper (Premium 4D) I think the last one (copper) is better, you can’t go wrong with copper coil from ZYX. Silver is definitely not warmer.
Technics + Jelco + Ortofon 2M Black PNP - headshell not level It's definitely has nothing to do with turntable or headshell level, probably it's your phono stage or something else.
Is a 2.5 meter RCA phono run okay for an MC cartridge with an output impedance of 24 ohms? No
Analog Lp Actually I’m not talking about re-issues. I’m talking about ORIGINAL JAPANESE issues made same year when record released in USA in the 70’s. If Polydor made records in the USA then Japanese Polydor K.K. pressed same release in Japan (from the same...
Analog Lp Contrary to what the youngster Chakster says, before 1979 Japanese pressings were hardly looked upon as top quality, if indeed Japanese pressings were even imported (to the US) in those days. In those days, the best pressings were often European... |
