Technics sl 1600 mk 1 or Recokut 33h An old belt drive turntable like Recokut must be maintained by pro.Technics Direct Drive will work forever, but you can buy a better Technics than SL1600, a brand new SL1200 MK7 cost $900 today with warranty.
How old is your cartridge? There is a difference between the age of a cartridge and the age of the stylus tip. A New Old Stock cartridge can be 40 y.o. (unused), and your stylus can be used only for 2000 hrs max (with the best possible stylus profile).
TT upgrade for me Technics 1200GR or mk7Don't buy a belt drive again!

Does Age Matter? Last month I assembled analog system for my 24 y.o. nephew and his beautiful wife. Micro Seiki DD turntable, MA-505 tonearm, Empire MI cartridge... They want vinyl, amazing!
What is it in MM that can give me goose-bumps? 🤔 Though if I left the impression of needing any more than the 6 MM/I cartridges I already own, this was not intended. Sorry. @justmetoo It’s OK, after my first high-end LOMC I was pretty sure that it is the last cartridge, but then I bought 60 mor...
Does Age Matter? I’m 44 and I prefer analog, and most of my audio fellas are also into analog. We’re all use streaming to discover music to buy it on vinyl. What is definitely for old people is CD format, very few people buying CDs nowadays (I don’t even know such...
What is it in MM that can give me goose-bumps? 🤔 @mijostyn I posted so many times about my current mode (current injection) phono stage (called 47 Labs Phono Cube) I like a lot with my MC cartridges. I also posted how exactly I came to the best vintage MM after using modern expensive LOMC in $2-...
What is it in MM that can give me goose-bumps? 🤔 But as I mentioned 'goose-bumps' (goose-flesh in American English?) which is instantaneous, non-intellectual, having nothing to do with that deeper 'relating to the intellect' but more with some simple primordial (basic and fundamental) reaction...
Technics 1200 G a Forever Turntable? @hobo1452 I recently upgraded to a Technics 1500C and It's definitely my forever TT. Everything there is to love about a Technics TT minus all the DJ foofaraws. I'm afraid what you call "DJ foofaraws" is a Pitch Control and this feature is more t...
What's your "buy one of these and get it re-tipped" cartridge suggestion for a DL103 fan? I'd like to keep the cartridge and the retip under $800. Wow, why don't you just buy unused ART-9 then ?
What is it in MM that can give me goose-bumps? 🤔 Debate about MM vs. MC is pointless, just like those Digital vs Analog pointless threads on audiogon. When you asking an MC aficionado about MM cartridges it's like asking Digital aficionado about Analog (waste of time). It's better to have an MM a...
Technics phono cartridges? They were developed and made by Technics (Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. ), but it was a different market for cartridges back in the 80's. Also Technics cartridges at that time were very expensive (I mean the best of them). If they will...
Phonostage recommendations under $3K Any news about the audition of Aurorasound Vida ?
Technics 1200 G a Forever Turntable? Before the SL1200GAE (and later G) was announced for the fist time, a "forever Technics" was the SP-10mk3 (and cheaper mk2) with Technics EPA-100 mk2 (or cheaper EPA-100) tonearms. |
