Best Integrated for 400 dollars Musical Fidelity 75 wpc X-A2 is more powerful than Creek. Sold for $700.00 new. Thus would be near the top of my list if you can find one. They usually sell in a couple of days. What Hi-Fi compared it to ~$1,600 X-A1000 and said it was BETTER.It i...
Best Integrated for 400 dollars Arcam and Creek are way better than Cambridge and Denon. Creek is more lively like Naim. Arcam more button down sound. I thought uninvolving. But Creek does not have much power despite what the ads say.
Why was Audiogon started? Buscis2, thanks for the invite, CA is a great place. No more snow, cold, and 2 months of decent weather, hmmmmmm, I feel your pain :-).
I have a confession to make This reminds me of my friend who worked in Saudi in the 80's. If I got the story straight, every citizen was given $45,000/year they suddenly got so much money from the oil. The old timer, driving his new Cadillac said he could go back to living i...
Why was Audiogon started? Buscic2, sorry to hear you're moving. But Audiogon is always a click away.
I have a confession to make This is a personal issue and there isn't one cure-all for everyone. Here are two key turning points to my audio nervosa:I spent a lot of time making the rounds to dealers to check out the "makes heaven come alive" systems. Finally I'm driving home...
Efficient Bookshelfs on a budget? Newbie13, the W3-871s used in the ELF's has rated power of 15 watts and maximum power of 30 watts. I think this means they can handle 15 watts continuous and 30 watt peaks.I ran them with the 22 watt Denon UD-M31 and they broke up but I don't know...

TAS Total Victory Review Thanks Drubin, I gotta take another look.
Mapleshade Records Tweaks-Silclear & Micro-Smooth Micro-smooth puts very fine scratches on the CD. Like any of the automotive polishes people recommend. This did not help my system. I'll stick with a non-abrasive polish like Novus.
need more smoothness Cellorover, February 2004 Stereophile says the B&W 705 has a PRE-resonant notch at 25 kHz and resonant frequency is "just above 30kHz". Not bad for a metal dome tweeter.

Bringing out the lows in my AP Virgo's? I heard the Virgo II's with Blue Circle. Definitely big bass and takes some of the analytical, cold sound out of the Virgos if that's a problem.
B&W 804 with ??? Musical Fidelity A300 150wpc integrated for ~$1,000 used. Rowland Concentra is also nice but it costs $6,000.
my $686 stereo system, laugh if you want... Well for $689.50 you could upgrade to Radio Shack magnet wire speaker cable. For $746 you could get some single driver ELF 1.0's. Don't stop now, just think how much happier you could be ;-) |
