Can an audio rack be that important? Nothing really for sound. Your equipment needs to be well supported and springs can help isolate equipment. Heat needs to be managed. I just had a custom rack made for $300 or so. love the look of the one pictured above. but you can get good...
Power Conditioner Architecture. Discuss Differences? @glennewdick you need to look at your understanting. A regenerator is a rectifier and an inverter. Their current capacity can be 1000 KW if that’ what they are designed for. I do have a dedicated line run for my stereo. That can't change the si...
Power Conditioner Architecture. Discuss Differences? I like the old style regenerative ones that weigh 80 lbs. Never current limiting. I really like how you’ve hit the nail on the head with current limiting as the major failue of these devices. I haven’t done a lot of research since I found the re...
Cronus Magnum II and power switch I would assume it is a relay that is stuck in one position. Should be easy to change out if you have minimal tech skills. --Jerry
I'm thinking about a low watt tube amplifier? oops. 87 is a different story. You'll not be happy with an SET and IMHO the push pull design loses much of the "tube magic". Jerry
I'm thinking about a low watt tube amplifier? 4 watts with 97dB speakers is more than enough. i’m running 2 wpc on my 96dB speakers. In addition to music at any level, I’m powering these speakers as the fronts in my HT system listening at theatre levels. now my 2 wpc amp is called "high curr...
The best speaker cables you’ve had hand made woven copper with cotton core and BHA silver plated connectors.
Moving again...system finally complete...back to starting over You lose a ton of money buying new, selling, and rebuying. If you buy used, you can do that ok. I personally would move my system to my new home. Maybe you just enjoy the process of putting the system together, which is not a bad thing. Jerry
Passive crossover power usage There is some power dissipated in the crossover and it depends on what level you are running your amp. I'm a flea watt guy and there i almost no heat generated. But I built my new crossovers with 10 to 30 watt resistors so they won't blow if some...
Power Cable Audioquest Dragon vs Isotek EVO3 Ascension My amp is only 180 watts nameplate so I only need 1.5 amps so I'm going to power it with a 20 gauge wire. I assume eveyone is ok with that? Just showing the foolishness of thinking traditional P=IV for powering an amp. Jerry
Safety Ground Q Good discussion. I'll add something that is somewhat obvious but some may not understand it: Neutral and ground, being tied together at the panel, will both "work" to run a piece of equipment. So if something is wired wrong, there may be no i...
Multiple audio systems in different rooms; how to link them with streaming gear? I use roon, one is wired, one is wireless. they sometimes get slightly out of sync and I have to stop and start. I'd look to fix this but I do i very seldom. Just thought I'd mention it as an issue you may need to deal with.
A previous discussion included a statement about crossover components. @blisshifi I used that reference also. I second your recommendation.
A previous discussion included a statement about crossover components. Correct. I don’t own an $80+ pair of speakers. My speakers are $8k and I spent $2k upgrading the crossovers. Jerry
Innuos owners. Chime in @jon2020 I agree with your thought that "maybe it is just you". There is a lot of room for personal prefernce in this hobby. I respect your choice. I find no difference in the sound as both of them have the primary function of telling the str... |
