Hook your TV or some other analog source up (or swap out DACs if you have a half dozen of them laying around like some of us do) to get your DAC out of the path and see if the problem goes away. Jerry

I boght some chinese knockoff RCA cable ends.  They had poor fit and finish but had serial numbers on them.  I got the sense that these were the ones rejected by QC.

You didn't say what type amp.  This is a common bad tube sysmtom. It is easy to delete your duplicate post, But I forget how.  Someone will help.
