Step down transformer (220V to 100/110V) or buy 220V version of Shindo preamp
@ayc868 A transformer theoretically reproduces in the output all  the noise in the input.  In practice, not quite but I don't recommend a transformer as a power conditioner. Hopefully your $6000 power conditioner is a rectifier/inverter and doesn...
Can anyone identify these speakers?
I've got headphones bigger than those.
How Do Amps Affect Soundstage?
@zazouswing exactly the way to look at it.  All the goodness is in the recording and the question is, can your system reproduce it without degrading it.  A system doesn't add anything (good). Jerry
How Do Amps Affect Soundstage?
So many SS amps focus on 300 watts and don't give enough attention to the first watt.  A good SS amp will have a good soundstage, but don't assume all $5k ss amps do. One amp I have verified and like it a lot because it mimics a tube amp is Kinki...
Why is solid state more popular when tubes are better?
@emergingsoul Looks like you hurt the feelings of some sensitive sold state guys.  They arn't ok with your prefernce for tube amps. Oh well. Jerry
Swiss Digital FUSE BOX Question Thread
@edisoncarter The slugs they gave me are still in the bag.  Im afraid I chuckle at people who polish in a drill as I have a lathe and have polished 3" stainless steel shafts to mirror finish (lots of work even at 1500 rpm).   but I don't find tha...
Swiss Digital FUSE BOX Question Thread
I have tested the SDFB and while I didn’t find it quit as good as my preferred plan of running with no protection (jump the fuse), it sounded almost as good in my system. I have found that most don’t have an interest in running without protection...
Magnepan owners. Fuses or what
I don't own Maggies but I am a huge fan of eliminating fuses.  this is an expensive hobby and unless you are getting by on a shoestring budget, you can afford to repair things if they break.  (the fuse is there to keep equipment from failing, but ...
Muted hi freq from Magnepan 1.7
Your silver plated copper should get your most of the way there.  silver can tarnish so you might take it out and clean it, perhaps put some de-ox on it.  Jerry
When Will the DAC Singularity Be Reached?
@yage   you are arguing semantics.  The amplification is analog.  You are challenging how it is integrated.
When Will the DAC Singularity Be Reached?
@danager Don't take this personally since, as I said above, the manufacturers are encouraging this misconception.   But physics and engineering don't support the existence of a digital amplifier.  indeed you don't need to buy a DAC, since they h...
When Will the DAC Singularity Be Reached?
There is a broad misunderstanding that is encouraged by the manufacturer that the Peachtree GaN1 is a "digital amp".  There is no such thing.  Inside the PT amp, there is a DAC.  My guess is it is a common chip and if you open it up you'll find al...
Muted hi freq from Magnepan 1.7
There is a common mod to jumper the fuses to the tweeters.  Magnepan is the only manufacturer I've ever seen to put fuses in the signal path to a driver (I admit, there may be others I'm not aware of).   IMHO, fuses have no business in the signal ...
Why is solid state more popular when tubes are better?
Not everyone agrees. I'm glad not everyone agrees.  Leaves more tubes for me.
When Will the DAC Singularity Be Reached?
You've been reading too much ASR.  Cheap DACs are not outperforming high end DACs.
