Help needed with Rattle in my floorstanding speakers. probably a wire routed too close to a bare wall or a driver magnet. take each upper driver out. As you pull it out note the wire routing and look for the source of the rattle. Jerry
Best place to live for good quality power @jaytor Thanks for sharing your data. I too have a PS Audio power plant and enjoy the built in oscilloscope. I've checked my data occasionally over several years and it is always around 4.2% THD. voltage can vary from 114 to 123. I set the o...
Using biwired cables on speakers with only 2 connections the other 2 wires are now antennae. 1. hook them both to the terminal, 2 blacks and 2 reds. 2. run them parallel to each other and very tightly spaced so they don't create a loop. BTW, biwire is a waste of time. Jerry
Best place to live for good quality power @nevada_matt the quality of your power with off grid solar is totally dependent on the inverter that the mass produced solar company provided. Not likely good. Jerry
Best place to live for good quality power 2c on transformers: a transformer induces a voltage in the secondary that theoreticaly exactly matches the primary. So the secondary is just as noisy as the primary. Jerry
Best place to live for good quality power Most people have no way of answering this question. Here is what my power looks like in a scope: https://photos.app.goo.gl/kxPz87c8iEVoRxTd7 4.2% THD. I live in a suburb of San Diego. Near a substation, mix of residential and industrial users...
Power cable from wall socket to power strip lots of misunderstanding in this area. 1. Power cannot be "cleaned". it isn't just a nice sine wave with some noise the can be "filtered" out. the sine wave coming into your house looks like crap. Here is a link to a photo of a scope of the...
For Innuos owners I've always operated my streamer that way. I'm not going to go look but I thought the manual even suggested this. I never touch the power switch in the back unless I'm moving it or rewiring something. The remote is kept in a drawer and I don't ...
Is it possible a 20 amp outlet can make a big difference in SQ? @steakster I'm sure I could never impress someone who already knows it all.
How much hum is normal from a new tube amp Is hum from the transformer or from the speakers? Speaker hum is generally from AC heaters and low level is often considered acceptable. Hum from transformers is a different story. power transformer, not output transformer. There are many thre...
Leaving my amplifier on ok? Also, I never leave the house with a tube amp on.
Is it possible a 20 amp outlet can make a big difference in SQ? @steakster You mistake the difference between electrical safety and audiophile sound. for example, the push in stabs are not going to give you audiophile sound with a point contact but they won't get hot or burn the house down.
This e-mail has been cryogenically treated @fredrik222 As a physicist I may have some experience with Data. one of the first things a scientist has to figure out is the difference between good data and bad data. you would benefit from improvement of this skill but is is generally difficu...
Leaving my amplifier on ok? Heat kills. No for class A amps.
This e-mail has been cryogenically treated @fredrik222 It must be true. It was on the internet. |
