Please recommend decoupling footers for DAC TLDR but springs decouple.
POWER AMPLIFIER FOR LOW TO MODERATE LISTENING I am surprised by what you report. I have Martin Logan CLS in my second system. At one time I had planned to build my system around them. I love 2 things about the Electrostats: 1. Awesome midrange. 2. Sound great at low volumes. I find ...
Streamer suggestions with both wireless and wired connections My suggestion is don't even consider wiireless. Putting a high performance DAC downstream of a wireless streamer is like trying to complete a jigsaw puzzle with 2% of the pieces missing.
Question about volume matching You're fine. I generally turn everything except the preamp Im using up to 100%. right now I'm using an integrated amp turned up to 100%. This takes the variable resistor that is the volume control pretty much out of the circuit. The fact that ...
Cable elevators I listen a day and then go back to the original to try to confirm a minor change.
Speaker Wires: Can I use different Wire Gauges in the same Conductor? calculator for you: https://www.wirebarn.com/Combined-Wire-Gauge-Calculator_ep_42.html 7 x 24 awg is still only 16 awg. I would get to 12 at least for a non-powered sub, preferably 10. those frequencies are power hogs. Silver is only 7% better ...
Quality power question #2 As @coralkong points out, don't expect miracles. A power supply upgrade will provide minor improvements on a excellent piece of gear. I just googled the piece of gear in question and it cost 40% of the cost of the upgraded power supply. Not a g...
Leaving my amplifier on ok? Other than @cakyol, who else out there has an amp that dims the lights when you turn it on?
Quality power question #2 I use the Farad Super 3. https://www.faradpowersupplies.com/
Dust Removal Some very uban answers here. Dust is a fact of life in dry rural areas. It won't hurt your gear. Jerry
Help needed with Rattle in my floorstanding speakers. probably a wire routed too close to a bare wall or a driver magnet. take each upper driver out. As you pull it out note the wire routing and look for the source of the rattle. Jerry
Best place to live for good quality power @jaytor Thanks for sharing your data. I too have a PS Audio power plant and enjoy the built in oscilloscope. I've checked my data occasionally over several years and it is always around 4.2% THD. voltage can vary from 114 to 123. I set the o...
Using biwired cables on speakers with only 2 connections the other 2 wires are now antennae. 1. hook them both to the terminal, 2 blacks and 2 reds. 2. run them parallel to each other and very tightly spaced so they don't create a loop. BTW, biwire is a waste of time. Jerry
Best place to live for good quality power @nevada_matt the quality of your power with off grid solar is totally dependent on the inverter that the mass produced solar company provided. Not likely good. Jerry
Best place to live for good quality power 2c on transformers: a transformer induces a voltage in the secondary that theoreticaly exactly matches the primary. So the secondary is just as noisy as the primary. Jerry |
