Why Are We Breaking Our Brains?
There are "master" audiophiles too.  but just like master sommeliers, master audiophiles don't spend time chatting with random guys on the internet.   Imagine a master sommelier's response when @jasonbourne52 responded to his thread that there is...
STREAMER
Larger power cables are most important on an amp but I run 12 awg to all my components.  cheap insurance. Jerry
Are Cardas Parsec cables Overkill for Zen Stream?
No such thing as an overkill on quality....now price, that may be a different matter.
2000s Home Theater
I see you just joined.  You'll get answers here but this isn't an HT forum.  The focus here is on high end 2 channel sound.  Some guys have both.
HT Sound quality - tube versus solid state amplification
@2psyop   I looked for something in your post that I agreed with but found nothing.   If you think tubes can't be dynamic, you should listen to a better system. only very high power tube systems are heat problems.  Frankly, they are an aberratio...
HT Sound quality - tube versus solid state amplification
I use my tube amp for 2 channel sound AND for the front 2 speakers of my HT system.  In the HT system the pre-out for the front 2 speakers on my HT reciever drives an input to my tube amp.   So I get almost the same great sound I've cultivated fo...
How hot is hot when moving from class a/b to to a or tubes?
A lot of the tube amplifiers mentioned in this thread are much more power than you need.  2 wpc will be enough unless you like concert volumes.  A 2 wpc tube amp will be almost no heat. Also, my comments above are made without air conditioning.  ...
How hot is hot when moving from class a/b to to a or tubes?
Not hot at all for the amp you need to drive those speakers. I have 5 tube amps. The smallest ones, 2 wpc EL84, is about 60 watts. My 300b is 150watts, my push pull KT66 is 180 watts. none of those heat up the room. these are measured numbers whi...
DAC failure?
SMSL brags about their dual low noise power supplies.  In that small box they are almost certainly supercaps.  Did it run warm before it failed?  I've got $10 on the power supply.
Snap Crackle shuts down my power amp
I think eric means the amp.  I agree.   Do not call an electrician to work on your amp.   Jerry
DAC failure?
a DAC shouldn't generally get hot.  You didn't tell us what DAC it is. I've seen some of the new supercap LPSs run very hot.  Perhaps this manufacturer has incorporated a supercap LPS into the DAC.  They fail occasionally or maybe more often tha...
Synergistic Research Master Fuse £565
The other day, on one of my amps, the input selector knob became loose. I noted that the setscrew was grabbing the extreme end of the shaft. the knob was too tall in my opinion anyway so I stepped into my shop, put the knob in a collet, fired up t...
Help replacing 8" woofer on Gershman Avant Garde Rx-20
This failure likely reflects more on your amp than your speaker.  You can also check your crossover. the fact that 2 drivers are misbehaving might point to the crossover, which would be much easier to find parts to rebuild. Jerry
How to trigger gear that doesn't have a trigger port (?)
Leave streamer and DAC on 24/7.
Fremer's Single-leg panel is absolute tweak bs
I agree with your strategy.  Not sure about the local step down transformer.  Do you have an example of one you think is good quality?  thanks.
