Shorten those lengthy power cords?
I don't think that the OP was looking to improve on performance but to improve on esthetics. All of my IC, speaker cables and pc in my second living room system are custom lengths to minimize the visual impact of the wires and cords. Go the DIY ro...
Sota Cosmos IV
If you motor is AC, then NO. Also, you will need the Multiwave II+ upgrade to be able to fine tune the the frequency by 0.0625hz steps instead of the standard 1hz step which is too course.
Side firing woofers
Depending on the romm, you can posistion the speakers to have the woofer firing in or out? I would assume that the bass drivers would be in phase with the mids to avoid cross over cancelation.
levinson 436monos vs. krell mcx 350monos
If the sonics are close, go for the Krell. Levinson's customer serice is a nightmare.
Review: Cary SLP-05 vs SLP-98
Did you ever compare a fully blown direct coupled SLP-98 F1 with the 05? If you compare both using SE inputs, the difference is not much.
Cary Rocket 88's Cat Eyes
Hey Commonone69, what did Cary say?
Cary Rocket 88's Cat Eyes
Are all the tubes lit up? Are you getting any sound at all? Have you checked the fuse? Does your CD player have a variable out that is turned down? If your CD player has a variable output, try hooking up the CD player (with volume all the way down...
Cary Rocket 88's Cat Eyes
The cat's eye tube (1629) used in Cary amps do not influences the sound of the amps, they are merely an output level display. I am not sure I fully understand your question, is your amp not producing any sound/output?
wbt terminals?
Why not just upgrade to the all metal WBT terminal?
cleaning the pins of NOS tubes...bad idea?
For heavy oxidation, I use a dremel fitting with a polishing wheel and jeweler's polishing rouge. Use a very light touch.
subwoofer in corner under shelf: reflection probs?
The added shelf will add an additional close proximity wall boundary which may help reinforce the bass output level which can always be compensated by turning down the sub's volume. I can't see a problem that DD12's settings won't correct.
Standmount speakers - alternatives to spikes?
Sorry, I thought you were referring to the equipment stand. For speakers stands, my feeling are the same, couple the stands and decpouple the speakers to the stands.
Recommend 300b tubes for Frankenstein Amps
I don't disagree about Coincident's being one of the best values in hi-end. BTW if your system requires more bottom end and dynamics, I really like the EML 300B - XLS, this is the tube I use.

Hey Abill, I don't want to hijack the thread but how are you liking the Victory IV?
Standmount speakers - alternatives to spikes?
Better results will be had if you treat the equipment that resides in the rack first and keep the rack coupled to the floor using the spikes. Just make sure that the rack's spikes have the weight equally distribed thus avoiding any wobbling etc. A...
