SET Recommendation Putting together a 2a3 based system can become a very expensive proposition especially if you are not into DIY speakers. You will need very sensitive speaker with a benigh impedance which will necessitaste very low noise tubes and associated equip...
Did Wilson change the Duette's tweeter? My friends Duette's are 6 months old and have the 1 inch silk dome tweeter. I doubt Wilson changed tweeters, otherwise they would have re-launched it as a series 2, bump the price up $2K, and have all the magazine declaring the old series 1 sounds...
B&W D800 D802 VS. W/P 8 IMHO not the best choice of speakers for near field listening. Need to know more about your associated equipment before anyone can give you any valued input.
How to protect the wood finish of speakers. Photon46 is correct. Two options, curtains, or a UV filter film (made by 3M) installed on your windows. Also, periodically, switch your left with your right speaker around to get an even tan.
who has experience with Joseph Audio? Although I have limited exposure to Joseph speakers, I cannot recall reading anything bad about them....ever!
DIY XLR Cables: Questions Yes, pre-tin the cable ends prior to the final solder. It all starts with a good connection, therefore, I always buy the best that I can afford when it comes down to cable connectors. Good luck
MAC Autoformers? I would guess that that a Mac with autoformer will sound good => better => best depending on the speaker load. A very demanding speaker load, the autoformer will be of a benefit, therefore, in theory, better sounding. A speaker with a very b...
Canary ca-160 or ConradJohnson premier 12 If you can get a CJ Premier 12 for $2500, that would bge my direction.
CANADIANS - Can we use the PS AUDIO Power Port AC Your best bet is to contact PS Audio to see if their receptacles meet Canadian code. I would assume so since they are marketed to Canadians and that their power plants meet Canadian standards.
Krell KSA 300S or FPB 300? The KSA 250 has balanced inputs and SE inputs. The heat generated by the amp has a tendency to potentially dry out caps, therefore, requiring replacement. With respect to heat, the amp does not need any additional cooling, it just raises the room'...
Krell KSA 300S or FPB 300? The "S" series stands for Sustained Plateau Bias technology which was first introduced in the Krell Audio Standard. This is a variation on the "sliding bias" idea, except that bias is changed in discrete steps rather than continuously. A so-called...
Krell KSA 300S or FPB 300? IMHO, the Krell KSA "S" series amplifiers were one of Krell's worst efforts. I would take an older KSA150, KSA250 MDA srries etc. over any of the "s" series amplifiers. I also think that the FPB was much better that the "s" series.
right/left orientation Facing the speakers i.e. from the audience's perspective. It is the opposite from the performer's perspective which is referred to as "stage Left or Right".
kt88 tube placement If you draw a line between pin 4 and pin 8, the line should be horizontal to the ground (left to right) and oppose to vertical line (up and down).
kt88 tube placement I would assume that they want you to make sure that the tube sockets in your amp are oriented in such a way that the pin guide will ensure that pins 4 and 8 are on a horizontal plane and not vertically. If not, you might have to change the orienta... |
