Sonic Frontiers Line 2, Heaven or Hell?
Problem with the volume or are you referring to the volume chip plus rail voltage upgrade???
Sonic Frontiers Line 2, Heaven or Hell?
How about a CAT SL-1 series pre-amp with phono? Awesome phono section plus a bit of the tube warmth that you are looking for.
Sonic Frontiers Line 2, Heaven or Hell?
Yes, tube rolling with the SF Line series will change the sound but you will never get the Line 2 to sound warm. My favorite tube combination was the Holland made Amperex 7308 white label....very neutral sounding.

The SL Line 2 is a solid performer, but if you are looking for the warm sound of tubes, I would look elsewhere. No one has every described the SF Line series as warm sounding. I am a former Line 3 owner.
Best 3 tube preamps under $18000?
The ARC Ref-5 is definitely a nice pre and I would only recommend it if you can live with the fact that Audio Research will come out with a Ref 6 in about 3 months and that your ARC 5 will not be upgradable.
BAT or Cary Pre with BAT VK-55?
Get the Cary SLP-98 with F-1 upgrades and have it direct coupled which will give you more air, dynamics and bass slam. The F-1 is a BIG upgrade to the original SLP-98.

Stick with Aerial 20T to play above 100Hz? Or MBL?
Ariel has spent a lot of research and dollars in developing the 20T lower bass capabilities, and not utilizing the 20T lower bass capabilities, is not fully maximizing the 20T abilities, therefore, one could consider it a waste of money if you are...
Stick with Aerial 20T to play above 100Hz? Or MBL?
Okay, now I understand your question. You are wasting your money only running the 20T from 100hz and up. There are a lot of monitor speakers out there that work well in the 100hz plus region, BUT before you goes down this route, how about trying t...

Stick with Aerial 20T to play above 100Hz? Or MBL?
Your room has standing waves which are causing a bass mode in the region you have defined. You have two options 1) fix the room or 2) buy speakers with a built in equalizer or purchase a stand alone room equalizer such as the PARC to use with the ...

It is not your speakers, it's your room that is causing your problems. Invest is acoustic treatments or maybe even hire an acoustical engineer. The 20T are awesome speakers.
