Dynaudio C1 with more impact Next time you are at your dealer try the Cary again except this time flip the switch from triode to UL (thus doubling the power)for your metal needs.
Best integrated tube amp for 3A MM deCapo i? You CANNOT go wrong with the 3A and the Cary SLI-80. For a touch more warmth, try the Cary 300SEI.
Classe CAP 151 - Channel dropping out once warm It sounds like a defective solder joint which breaks contact through heat expansion. Send it to Classe, they have exceptional customer service
Amp candidates for ATC Loudspeakers Why don't you go for a pair of active ATCs'?
Upgrade from Kimber D60? The most logical upgrade from the D60 is the Illuminati (kimber) Orchid cable.....still the Digital King IMHO.
New preamp: lamm ll2 or Cary slp 05 Both are great preamps, but IMHO you are going at it all wrong. Pick your speakers first, match the amp to the speakers, match the pre with the amp etc. Equipmewnt synergy is the key to a very musical system.

tape out = preout ??? If you plan on using the preamp's volume control, then using the tape output to feed the sub will not work because you are tying to match a variable output with a fixed output. I doubt that you will want to get up and adjust the sub level each tim...
Anyone put Totem Forests on platforms? Using the threaded spiked feet, have the front spikes threaded longer (higher) that the back spikes shorter (lower) which will cause the speakers to tilt upwards (rake) towards the listener.
Anyone put Totem Forests on platforms? Use the existing speaker feet and try raking the speakers back a touch. Are you listening in the near field?
How to integrate phase of a subwoofer with mains? Ryder, using a standardized sub set up, you are attempting to equalize the output amongst the various frequencies, thus attempting to eliminate any frequency nulls and peaks. With a neutral setting i.e. flat response, you now can hear what the rec...
stillpoint question Stillpoints are generally used between the TT and the supporting shelf (rack). There is no benefit of adding a shelf between the TT and the stillpoints unless it is a reasonance control specific shelf like a symposium, in which you will need to ex... |
