Bose 901 Series V Questions
Yes I have.  Don't.  With the equalizer,  they will fill a big room with sound.  Not good in a small room.
Nearfield listening - once more
Maybe my definition of "nearfield" is a bit off, but I think of nearfield as my desktop powered Audioengine speakers attached to the computer.  Sounds decent at 2-3 feet but not room filling by any means.
Nowhere to hear speakers and amps anymore!
You should be able to tell that we [audio lovers] are a small market.  Consider how many of your friends and relatives are interested in your rig.  And the smaller populated areas suffer more than metro areas.  I am 2.5 hours away from any sort of...
Rediscovery
@czarivey     You listen to cassettes?  Very nostagic.  In the early seventies the quality was about like a wornout 45 record, tape hiss and cheap cassette blanks.  I was unhappy with them compared to LP's so I bought a cassette recorder and recor...
There is none out there......
The WIFI extender is a great idea.  I ran an ethernet cable through walls and one floor [about 60 feet] to my rig.  Just another option.  Works well.
I am looking to upgrade - looking for advice
Everything starts with the source components.  I always attack my weak points first.  I would look into upgrading that streamer first.  Then see if that makes a diffo.  Lots of good streamers also have a decent DAC built in.
Aggrivated tinnitus from speakers?
Tinnitus here too.  Not severe though.  I usually use lower volume.  I even called the tinnitus hotline, but they never pick up, it just keeps on ringing.......
Upgradeitis
Go to an audio show to see and hear before you buy.  Personally, I find very few that I would want after being a Magnepanar owner for 20+ years.
DACed and Confused here...
Go cheap and you will be wanting to upgrade soon.  That includes wires.
Any other Pipe And Slippers Audiophiles out there?
Intica gummie or two fingers of good bourbon.  Or both.
Help me spend $100,000 on a new system
Start with the room.  You could spend big bucks on the system and still be unhappy if you do not start with the listening space.  Then, pick  speakers that fit the room and then the components and wires.
Is my amp good enough?
Survey says.......Your amp is good enough. Yet, like others say, listen until the new speakers are broken in well.  Then, consider the plethora of better amps out there.  Upgrading is part of our fun is this hobby.
Need a new integrated, what say you?
Hegel.  It ain't pretty sitting on my rack, but it will push my Maggies without strain.  Should be a good match.
Speaker placement Quandary
There is lots of good advice here.  Corners can make the low end bloom.  Go to the corner when you are playing something that has some bass to it.  You'll hear it if it's there.  Also, try moving your happy seat forward and back a little at a time...
Goodbye Everyone
I believe this forum is all about opinions.  Everyone has one.  This is where you can bring a problem to many audiophile minds.  So you can expect many types of answers.  Rudeness is not wanted or needed.  Best wishes, Elliot.
