Are You A Disciplined Audiophile?
For me, if the sound is Not better, initially, after the change, no amount of waiting will change that.
Should Amps be plugged into a power conditioner?
When I was at a local dealer hosting McIntosh, one of their amplifier engineer/designer was there, and said amps should not be plugged into a power conditioner. The Power Supply, properly designed, does not need it and it lowers the draw rate of t...
Chicago, Illinois
I am looking to set up a small group of people wanting to get together and listen and socialize. I am looking in the NE Illinois/SE Wisconsin area. DM me if interested and we can meet ahead, say for coffee to chat and talk about how to do this. I...
Audiovector QR7 or B&W 702 S3 to Diablo 300?
Not impressed with Joseph Audio. I find his designs mediocre sounding and too expensive. Prefer the B&W.
Milwaukee, Wisconsin Area
I live in NE Illinois and looking for an audio club to join. I was in CAS but had, well I never got any of their emails about meetings. Just not my style. When I lived in Ann Arbor, MI I belonged to SMAC, the Southeast Michigan Audio Club. There ...
Best Plasma sony,pioneer.Panasonic ?
Pioneers are decent, especially if buy the PDP-4330 (for a 43" plasma - it is a commercial model). This is because they have a card slot that you can add connections with. A few others have this, but Pioneer is great about that. The blacks could b...
Floorstanding Speakers
There are floorstanders that are designed to be close to walls - Royd Audio is one of them - http://www.roydaudio.com . They are a small british company that make speakers at the same level as Dynaudio and Totem.Dave
Can speakers be too good?
I would suggest, if you can find them to listen to, some Royd Audio speakers http://www.roydaudio.com . They are a smaller british company and make some fine sounding speakers. Castle, Rega, and Neat are some other british speaker companies to try...
Alternative to Speaker spikes
Buggtussel loudspeakers makes rounded brss feet for their speakers. They do not puncture the carpeting, and do a good job of connecting the speakers to the floor. I think they will sell them separate.Dave
Your ''best kept secret'' speaker choice ?
I would say Royd Audio from England. I know of only 3 dealers of the speakers between Canada and the US. Royd is a small manufacturer of speakers and are not very well known in the US but they do have a cult following in Japan. I have a pair of Do...

Wharfedale Emerald 93 Opinions
I forgot to mention that Wharfedale is now owned by IAG, which owns Qaud also. I think they are trying to bring back this speaker name.
Wharfedale Emerald 93 Opinions
I own two sets of Wharfedales - Diamond 7.2's and the MFM-1's. They are not bad speakers for the money, especially the Diamonds - read a review on them.http://www.tnt-audio.com/casse/wharf72e.htmlDave
Which speaker is the master of IMAGING ????
I think you could get as many answers as people on this forum. I think this is a 'non-question'. I think if the speaker is of decent quality and setup properly, one should get a decent image from it.Dave
Opinions - Best ever Adcom model???
What about pre-amp/amp combos. I am in the process of acquiring an Adcom GFP-1 preamp to go along with a 1979 Mitsubishi DA-A10DC amp (dno't laugh - it is a powerhouse amp!!).Dave
