Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Roger that, Mapman!  I have my 2000s on Sound Anchor craddle bases, tri-spiked into the shallow carpet-over-cement-floor in my basement Man Cave.  Bass is tight, well-defined, powerful, extended and bloat-free (I crossover the 2000s to my pair of ...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
FYI, as I understand it, there is no actual crossover in the x000 Walsh line.  Just a resister to protect the tweeter below about 7 kHz.  The Walsh driver rolls off naturally at around 7-8 kHz.
Weird issue with Pioneer AVR volume control
Thanks, mofimadness!  Worked like a charm.
Weird issue with Pioneer AVR volume control
thanks, mofi!
Weird issue with Pioneer AVR volume control
Will try, thanks.
PS Audio Quintet
Update:  Two outlet pairs failed, no longer providing power.  PSA was kind enough to repair the unit at no charge, although the round trip shipping for this unit was expensive.  About a month later, the same two outlet banks failed.  I will not re...
Review: Vandersteen 2Wq Subwoofer
Quick, long overdue update.  Mains are now Ohm Walsh 2000s.  Crossovers have been replaced with Vandersteen M5-HP battery biased crossovers.  The Vandersteens blend seemlessly with the Ohms, which have bass extention below 40Hz.  The M5-HP crossov...
Is it possible to be an audiophile and be happy with what you have
Largely out of fear of making a costly mistake, I go slow when considering upgrades.  I had a pair of speakers for 9 years that really didn't work for me.  I upgraded the front end and source gear, added acoustical treatments to the room, and upgr...
Going to rip 2000 cds. Which software?
Another vote for dBPoweramp.  I rip on a laptop which is networked to my router.  The rip is sent to my Vortexbox Appliance, a Linux dedicated server connected by ethernet to the router.  Yes, the Vortexbox Appliance has an internal optical drive ...
Are audiophile speakers turn on for single women?
I am a fat and ugly audiophile.  In my single days, I would approach gorgeous model type women in bars.  I would look them in the eyes and say "I have a really great pair of high resolution loudspeakers in my apartment.  Wanna come over and listen...
Best speakers for $3000
Consider a home audition of Ohm Walsh 2000 ($2800/pr).  You have enough juice for them, and they do just about everything well.  As long as your room is not larger than the recommended room size for the speakers (see the Ohm web site), you might f...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
t8kc:  You may need an in-line filter for the hum.  Whatever nexus your audio system has with the TV might need this.  If the hum is from the TV transformer itself, not much you can do except to try some of the plug-in devices designed to quiet no...
Amps which are Great, but either Unknown or Underpriced
My Odyssey Audio HT3 (with cap upgrade) is nearly 10 years old.  I have not once in all these years even considered an amp upgrade.  This amp is a giant killer, with detailed, clean sound, never etched or bright, with stunning soundstage width and...
When is your Hifi good enough?
For me:As long as I smile when the music plays, I am happy. As long as I don't feel like doing something other than listening, I am happy. As long as I have other financial burdens in life that take priority over indulging in new gear just for the s...
Is high end audio to snooty for its own good?
Sure, some of the larger-than-life celebrities of the Hi-Fi world can be eccentric, and yes, snooty.  But that's a personality trait, not a trait of the gear itself.  I don't begrudge those with the resources to invest big money into their stereo ...
