How much do you have to spend, to get a good Sub?
For music, I really enjoy my Vandersteen 2Wq. I have a pair of them now, but started with one. It is designed for music, not home theater. You should review the product info on the Vandersteen web site, since this sub has a unique hook-up scheme. ...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Mapman is spot-on. I do own a pair of MWTs, the previous version to the current one, and the sonics are quite similar to my 2000s. My Walsh center channel speaker is perfect match to my 2000s.
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Jwc2012: I have a pair of 2000s in a 2800 c.f. basement. Although you might be sitting nearfield (I sit 9' back), the speaker doesn't know or care where you are sitting. It is going to fill the enite space. Even with powered subs, crossed over, 1s...
Spin clean paired with a KAB EV-1
Minkwelder - D'OH! You are correct, sir. Senioritis strikes again. Nitty Gritty it is.
Does The Squeezebox Touch Have a Worthy Successor?
From the N-30 product brochure:"AirPlay-enabled App Support – Get access to the growing number of AirPlay-enabledapps like Pandora® and iHeartRadio®"
Attention Squeezebox Touch & Pandora users
Jond - I don't think the solutions at that linked thread will help. I do not have any streaming issues with internet radio or my server. But, I may try one of those adapters that sends the router signal through the house wiring.Cymbop - When I con...
Oooh Potential Squeezebox Touch replacement
Steve: I wouldn't bother with the $150 wifi adapter. I'd get one of the power line adapters, so perhaps the hi-res would work. I agree that, in spite of the positive review, the internal DAC is probably above-average mid-fi at best, but I would us...
KAB EV-1 users?
I've had one for around 5 years. Very pleased. Remember to keep the felt lips clean, and replace them and the record brush as needed.
Spin clean paired with a KAB EV-1
Happy EV-1 user for about five years. I speculate that in order to get the right to use the VPI cleaning process, KAB agreed not to advertise outside of its own web site, or seek reviews for the EV-1, so not too many people know about, even though...
Does The Squeezebox Touch Have a Worthy Successor?
As I posted elsewhere on this site, I think the Pioneer Elite N-50 and N-30 are the closest things out there right now to a Squeezebox. Not drop-in replacements by any means, but based on the features and price, as close as anything I'm aware of.
New lease on life for a pair of Ohm F's
Zavato - Just as a point of interest, while the current Ohms are not full-range omnis, they can be ordered configured for something close. The directional tweeter rolls in above ~7kHz, so in this respect, the current Ohm Walsh line is not fully om...
D-SONIC SOA Class-D Core Amps. The best Class-D ?
Thank you, Carlos. I am still about a year away from pulling the trigger on a new amp, but with D-Sonic's restocking fees, I am looking for any impressions by owners I can find. Please keep us posted as the amps break in. When you say they are not...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Love the new site. But, it look slike black ash veneer is no longer an option. I love my 2000s and center in black. Some day, I want a pair of wall-mounts for the rear-surround channels, and I'd like them to be black as well. Maybe this is a custo...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Mapman: I am not sure I agree with you on Class D amps. While many Class D manufacturers take OEM modules, almost all of them have their own approach to power supplies, input stages, etc. AFAIK, the amp module itself can be made to sound drasticly...
Is the V.P.I. Traveler made in China
Kiddman: I don't know enough about manufacturing tolerances to determine if VPIs are good or not in this regard. They look like it to me, but I am not an engineer. I also can't tell you if Harry and Mat Weisfeld were lying to me when they said tha...
