System Rebuild
I am not familiar with the electronics you listed (as in, I haven't heard them), so I can only comment on your speaker choices, some of which I have heard.I have always enjoyed the Acoustic Zens, especially their ribbon tweets.  Hard to see how yo...
McIntosh C2300 noise
@Pistha  - If you had no sources or amp connected to it, how could you hear the buzz?  Is it a transformer hum from within the preamp itself?
McIntosh C2300 noise
I have a C220.  Although I did not have a severe noise issue like you, I did replace the 4 tubes in this pre with Mullard reproduction 12AX7s, and the preamp got quieter and sounds better in many respects.I would try this:  If you are using the ma...
rebuilding after a fire
I feel bad that you haven't gotten any replies yet.  I am not familiar with the sound of your gear (except for the speakers), so I can't directly answer your question.  I did note that you failed to mention cabling.  Without starting a flame war, ...
Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 Digital: MQA HW decoding at reasonable cost -Anyone have this?
@kalali - Thanks for clarifying, but I remain confused.  Why is it not possible to send the digital output of the Node 2 to one of the S/PDIF inputs on the Pro-Ject?
Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 Digital: MQA HW decoding at reasonable cost -Anyone have this?
@philtangerine - Thanks for your post.  It is very informative.  I actually prefer the option of non-upsampling if a DAC upsamples, and if this one doesn't, that's fine with me.  I am still curious to hear what users think of this DAC's non-USB pe...

I saw an ad for Morrow Audio cables
If it's any consolation, that happens to me all the time, with plenty of other web sellers of audio gear.  At home I use Ad Block, but at work, the ads pop up all the time.  I'll survive, I suppose.
Thorens Turntables
You can find people in the U.S. that offer restored or modded Thorens ’tables. Steve Frosten is one I can think of. Also see https://vinylnirvana.com/
Awesome customer service from Simply Speakers
My experience was not so good.  I sent them a car speaker in which the surround had separated from the cone to repair.  Whatever they did to it, the repair did not last long, and the cone once again became detached from the surround.  I ended up s...
McIntosh Guy Going Tubes? (Maybe?)
I have been running a C220 preamp with a SS power amp for about 8 years, and I am very happy with this combo.  I just don't have the patience or heat tolerance for a tube power amp and all the maintenance they usually require.I replaced stock tube...
Fantastic Customer Service from Audio Classics
Just to ad my own positive experience, in 2010 I purchased a used C220 preamp from Ryan. The main output was not working on arrival, and Ryan swapped it out, with shipping at Audio Classics expense, IIRC, for another one, which was fine for a whil...
Vandersteen Sub woofers v Rythmik Subs
@gdnrbob - I think you are correct.  The 2Wq and V2W are probably toast, although Vandersteen may leave the web site as is for a while to allow his dealers to clear out any remaining inventory of the 2 series subs.
Have you recently lost a close audiophile buddy? What has it taught you?
@oregonpapa - What, you don't believe in Audiophile Zombies?  I have seen them at some of the audio shows.  They're out there.
Have you recently lost a close audiophile buddy? What has it taught you?
I have a lot of audiophile friends through my local audio club - The New Jersey Audio Society (check it out - www.njaudiosociety.com - ) Suffice it to say that it is not filled with a bunch of young, healthy millenials. We recetly lost our Presiden...
