Sweet Vinyl Sugarcube - I Want It!!!
Oh, and as for too much gadget involvement, remember, my goal is to get all my vinyl on to my server.  That makes listening more convenient than ever, IMHO.
Sweet Vinyl Sugarcube - I Want It!!!
@tablejockey @noromance ... Of course, no piece of kit is for everyone.  Otherwise, we would all own that piece of kit.  I started this thread by remarking that if the SC-2 only digitized LPs, split tracks, added metadata, and dumped them on my se...
Ownership and Review of a pair of Ohm Super Sound Cylinder
@mapman interestingly, in the Strohbeen/Guttenberg interview, John admits he really doesn't have a system of his own.  He attends live performances regularly.  I think this affects how he voices his speakers.
Sweet Vinyl Sugarcube - I Want It!!!
Just a quick update:  The beta software for the SC-2 has gone through several revisions.  Metadata searching has improved greatly.  Also, I can now enter catalog numbers of LPs and the SC-2 will use that data to populate the metadata fields and ad...
Ownership and Review of a pair of Ohm Super Sound Cylinder
I can't help posting:  Some times, my listening sessions seem, um, uninspired.  But then there are nights like last night.  I put together a pretty random playlist on my server.  Nearly every track was just magical.  The capper was "No Way Out" by...
A New? Way to Buy Loudspeakers??
Well, it’s clever. And I suppose if your listening room in anechoic, and your budget for speakers matches Crutch’s price range, and your ear shape matches the microphone baffle, it might help narrow down which speakers to order for a home audition...

@tjj99... If you like this thread, check out the Micro Walsh Talls, Who's Heard Them thread, one of largest here.  Yes, Ohms respond well to gobs of power, no question.  And yes, John and everyone at Ohm are a pleasure to deal with.  My 2000s are ...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
@bstatmeister... Yes the SC-2 is spendy.  I got mine via Indiegogo as a beta unit for half the price.  I use the KAB-1 record cleaner, similar to the RD V except you connect your own cannisters vacuum.  When I bought it, about 14 years ago, there ...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
@bstatmeister...  For digitizing vinyl, I strongly recommend that you try the Sugarcube SC-2 by Sweetvinyl.  I am using it with excellent results.
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
@jim_hip - IME, the main criteria Ohm uses to determine which center channel you need is distance from that center channel speaker.  In my case, I was told by John Strobeen that since I sit about 10 feet from the center, that the smallest model wo...
Sweet Vinyl Sugarcube - I Want It!!!
Ok, I just had to post this... I am finally able to digitize vinyl at 96/24 using my Sweetvinyl SugarCube SC-2 and play it back from my server. I am listening to Sting's LP "Nothing Like the Sun" that I digitized from a pretty clean double ...

Sweet Vinyl Sugarcube - I Want It!!!
A long overdue update:First, having been unable to coordinate a meeting with Leo of SweetVinyl for the firmware update, SweetVinyl graciously offered to have my SC-2 shipped out to them and returned it with the update.  Light-show issues solved.An...
What are the best speakers you have ever owned and why?
Advent New Large Utility, JBL towers (mid 80's), Vandersteen 1C, to my current and final Ohm Walsh 2000.  Short of winning the lottery, they stay.  They do almost everything right (my review is posted here in review section).  Not the best speaker...
Are manufacturers having discussions removed from Audiogon if they turn negative?
I think it's valuable to expose poor workmanship or service from a company, just as it's important to praise good workmanship and service where appropriate.  Just keep it honest, civil, and don't use it as a substitute for dealing directly with th...
