How to tell the quality of a digital amp.
Thanks for your kind words Zd542.
How to tell the quality of a digital amp.
Regarding the obsolete question- perhaps obsolete is was not an appropriate term. I should have said out dated enough that in comparison, something new would sound drastically better.you must be new to audio as well, Woofer72, not just to class-D ...
NOS DAC's without any digital filtering?
How are these DAC's able to perform as well or better than DACS that use filtering to diminish aliasing effects? I understand that there are some who believe that the best sounding DAC's in the world are NOS/non-filtering. How is is this possible?...
My recent experience in PayPal dispute
09-21-15: MitchchavisAs with Muzikat I had a nightmare experience with PayPal. They held over $8k of my funds for more than three months after a minor issue which was resolved immediately between the purchaser and myself. After many phone calls an...
burr-brown vs. sabre vs. ?
agree with Georgelofi - Burr-Brown vs Sabre is the wrong way to approach the issue. As posted already, you should hear whether you like a multi-bit DAC (Philips, Burr-Brown) or a single-bit DAC (Sabre, Wolfson, Analog-Devices & some Burr-Brown)...
Preamps without built in DAC silly question
Chenglo1,suppose you connected your Wired4S DAC directly to your amplifier (I believe DACs are built with analog output stages that can drive a power amp w/o any electrical issues), how would you control the volume? You would need a preamp OR some...
Do you Bi-Wire, if you can?
yes, my speakers allow for biwire. at the start I used a single pair of speaker cables + jumpers. The sonics were good. Then, when I had some money, I bought a 2nd pair of speaker wires & did a shotgun run of 2 pairs of speaker cables per spea...

how much current does a yba 600 power amp provide.
I did a quick search on the internet & found an ad on Canuckaudio for a YBA Passion 600 for sale. It seems that this amp uses a 1KVA power transformer & is a 150W/ch into 8 ohms. From my calculations, assuming a dual secondary i.e. it's a s...
wattage
While I agree that all electronics causes some phase shift of the music signal, I believe that the most flagrant violator of phase distortion is the speaker. Once the listener has corrected this then I would venture to fix the phase shift from the...
wattage
As I read your post Tennisdoc40, I was thinking about the SPL drop-off with each doubling of distance from the plane of the speaker...I scrolled down & saw that Almarg had already addressed this point. :-)I'm thinking exactly along Almarg's li...
Sanders 10B Electrostatic
On second thoughts: 800 Ohms impedance presented by the ESL seems to be rather on the high side. So, maybe the 250W/ch REF 250 will be fine with the Sanders speakers....(like I wrote it was a quick back of the envelope calculation. ;-) )
Sanders 10B Electrostatic
8-31-15: AlbertporterClio09Albert, it may not be required for the 10B but how many 100 watt tube amps can drive a 1 ohm load?Is the Sanders a 1 ohm load? If yes, do you know across what part of the musical spectrum? What is your opinion on 200 + WP...
