Replace vintage NAD 7020?
Grab any NAD from the late 80s or early 90s (3225PE, 7225PE, etc), and they're wonderful sounding. I still love and use my 7225PE I bought new in 1991 when I was a junior in high school, and it sounds damn fine w/anything from NIN to Mozart.

I can't understand what Clark "Mumbles" Terry says
Seriously, Clark Terry is my favorite trumpet player. Check out "Friendship," his release with Max Roach...excellent.
I can't understand what Clark "Mumbles" Terry says
Bizango,For years I could not understand "Mumbles" either...until I found CryoFuse fuse elevators. You place them between your AC outlet and components. They take the mumbles right out of Mumbles. They're AWESOME!!!!!
Cary CAD 120S vs. Rogue M-150
I've heard the M-150s with high efficiency Tannoys (Prestige Series), and they were very noisy, almost like something was wrong. I think people's mileage varies w/the Rogues, but I would inquire about possible noise issues before buying.
How can I send Pandora from my Ipad to my stereo?
Or buy a 1/8 mini to RCA IC for $6 at the Shack and run to your pre...My setup sounds a bit "soft" and not super transparent, but it's dead quiet (battery only) and not that bad at all. I'd try that before chunking down big dollars.
Tubes to Watts Ratio
Auxetophone, thanks for explaining the auto bias fact. I knew it was auto bias but not how this affected power.
Tubes to Watts Ratio
Mike,Not sure because the manual doesn't specify and I cannot seem to find much info on line. My guess is UL, as these were made circa mid 90s when triode wasn't fashionable. On the other hand, they are very midrangey and sound like what I think a...
Power strip recommendation.
Smofatt,If I had such nice gear as you, I would look at one of the APC battery back up devices (S10 or S15 only). They are not power strips per se, but they will ensure that nasty surges will not harm amps, etc. I recently got the S10 for $250(a s...
Best surprisingly good value component
My $130 Fried A/3s bought almost mint (made in 1986 and sold for $600) sound so amazingly "right" I will never get rid of them.
Are my ears just fooling me?
My Quicksilver M60s, NAD 1600, and old Fried A/3s, though not fancy, flesh out the alto and tenor nicely and sound real. The trick, IMO, is driver integration/compatibility and tubes that err on the neutral/warm side. If these things are out of wh...
How to clean and polish MC275?
I use Nevr-Dull by Eagle One (Wal-Mart auto section). It is a wad-type cleaner that works beautifully on my Quicksilvers' nickel finish. I belive it works on chrome as well and will not scratch or haze over.
Do you listen alone or with guest s
G M C,A bit off topic, but your system just blew my mind...yikes! Others, check it out if you have not yet.
Is it okay to talk around your speakers?
I want some of whatever you're smoking.
