s.s. preamp matchup to mccomack dna1 rev.a
Big: Craig's suggestions are worth trying - synergy issues are often simply a matter of finding the right cabling. Also experiment with different upgrade AC cords; no two sound the same. It's sometimes easier to tune the equipment that you have th...
looking for inexpensive speaker spikes?
May Audio Marketing has nice sets of BBC MK 2 cones that are threaded & also have locking rings. These sets come with protection discs & also have flat-top pieces that couple to the threaded bolt. The sets when assembled make into a standa...
High-end tweeks for a vintage Technics Tuntable
we have a member here who's very into Technics direct drives. Contact Francisco (membername = Psychicanimal) no doubt he can share his expertise & is usually chock full of enthusiasm for his Techincs TT
The age old question of trusting your gut feeling
just keep in mind that not everyone checks their email every day. That might explain it?
System for Yacht
suggest using car electronics so that you won't have to run on generator power, which can be somewhat noisy (of course the 12 volts can be noisy as well when the engines are running). I've always preferred Alpine head units myself. So many options...
Can I make a crossover or buy one?
some sub's have integral adjustable crossovers built in that will take care of all this for you. They are even tunable for best integration; get one with a phase adjustment for even better results.
Cable confusion?
Consult with Cable Company www/fatwyre.com for cable suggestions relevant to the equipment & speakers that you're using. They can provide useful recommendations for interconnects, AC cords, & speaker cables. They have a cable lending libra...
Analog Power Cord???
Jond probably has it right. JPS Digital AC is another example of this. Any other source component AC cord not labeled "digital" would be considered all purpose, which of course includes 'analog'.
Why do dealers email you when your selling?
either don't advertise, or include a clause at the bottom of your ad stating your above terms. I've never received anything like this myself, but it really wouldn't bother me all that much if it did happen. I get emails from members on a daily bas...
Phase inverting preamps
The concept of absolute phase is actually quite basic. A simple example: you're making a live recording of an amplified band. After the signal goes through all the cabling, processes, & other equipment (including your own) what you should hear...
Need Schematics for Accuphase T107 & T109v
This is a real problem. I tried to get a schematic for a $2000 Accuphase AD275 phono stage: the reply was 'we don't have schematics'. When I asked how they could perform repairs without schematics the reply was "we don't repair them, we pitch &...
Racks vs. furniture w/pods, points, aurios, etc?
I've pondered the same question. Really prefer a nice double-wide wood rack (this is my present setup) to the steel framed alternatives. I'm isolating the rack's shelving from the equipment with Vibrapods, topped with Black Diamond shelves. I use ...
Tube Pre-amps for audition list
If going with a McCormack product, the TLC-1 pre is the better choice although you'll also need the external phono stage. It will take some digging to find one with remote; their deluxe version was made with remote. I once had this full lineup: Mc...

Tube Pre-amps for audition list
GoLden Tube SEP-2 or SEP-3 both have remote, optional phono, & are a great match with McCormack's amps, at about half or less than your $1500 budget.
