I cut the cord and it paid off.
Just: that's wonderful news.Did you cut the stock cords & then attach IEC's to the pigtails, or did you actually install chassis mount IEC's? Or did you go so far as to hardwire the PS cords internally?I can certainly relate to buying another ...
Looking for Amp advice
Carl I'm sure you'll be very happy with the Gamut which also uses mosfet ouput topology. Please do report back on your results with the Gamut!Choice of cabling: I can only tell you what works nicely with my own mosfet Accuphase; I haven't experime...
Outlet shoot out
I guess it's just my own rig then, but break in of AC components hasn't really been very much of an issue here; most upgrade cords that I've used haven't changed very noticably when broken in, excepting the Virtual Dynamics Signature, which althou...
Looking for Amp advice
Since you like the Accuphase CD I suggest an Accuphase amp; I'm veeeeery happy with mine. The A20V or A50V are pretty pricey but with comparable quality to the Hovland; a tube pre driving a SS amp can work quite nicely together. For somewhat less ...
synergistic designer power cord
Synergistic makes some very nice AC cords. Just as in anything else however, their applications are system & component dependent. I have auditioned the full line & presently have 3 DR Sqd's in use on pre, PA, & Master Control Center (t...
Longer speaker cables or phono cables?
I must agree that the longer speaker cables are certainly the lesser of two evils. One way around this might be to place your phono stage (if separate) adjacent to the turntable, thus driving the interconnects at much higher levels & buffered t...
Wanteds..
Since you asked, I don't normally go there either, but have done so in the past. I've found the wanteds to be very useful in finding equipment that wasn't advertised, yet someone has managed to come up with exactly what I've been seeking nearly ev...
Opinions on Marsh P2000 preamp?
Rick you might as well try one out for yourself - it might synergize nicely & it might not at all. In my rig the P2000 was too lame & laid back - no sparkle or punch. But if I had experimented with AC cords & interconnects, & perha...
Outlet shoot out
Over the holiday I backtracked a bit in order to make a comparison. Without going all the way back to the stock outlet & 20A Hubbel, I did temporarily reinstall the Leviton 20A industrial outlet that I had been using previously to the Wattgate...
Tube and Tube Socket Cleaning
Dekay that's called Crocus cloth: found at better hardware stores. I wouldn't be without it myself; great for burnishing.
Synergistic dealer?
contact membername = billb2Mr. Bill Bryan offers great service at unbelievable prices
So WHERE do you go to buy a Shure V15 Cartridge ?
also could use a step up transformer to upmatch moving coil output levels to a MM phono input
newbie need help on decision on buying an amp
Also agree with Todd Philefreak: low power amps have caused an awful lot of blown tweeters - while going the other way (more than rated power) rarely results in problems when applied judiciously.
Felt tip Marker 1, Sony 0
How can this work: aren't CD's read from the inside out? That's how I understand it anyway (not that I would know) unless possibly, as Jeff L advises, the PC players look for data files first.
Who is makes a CD/digital specific power cord ?
Yes the JPS Digital AC is very good for the low-ish price. It's a filtered cord so I plug directly into an unfiltered outlet (on my line conditioner I have some unfiltered outlets also available) however as always it's best to experiment to determ...
