Running bi-wire cables backwards OK?
Right 70242 (your zip code?). Some networked cables even have two actual networks: an in & an out. So you'd not only have to re-orient the in's & out's but also have to place them at their correct respective locations inline. It's simply n...
Are Carver amps worth a damn?
I tried a Sunfire; no sale.

Hum from Florescent light
Sometimes fluorescent noises can be tamed using the Audio Prism wall-warts. Have seen this demo'd & it did work, but have never tried it personally.
Internal Speaker Wiring ??
Sean these are classic Belle Klipsch circa 1978 with original metal horns. At $4500/pr. yet they're not even considered audiophile grade spk's (others' opinions; I obviously disagree) but I covered that in a previous thread & had other support...
Internal Speaker Wiring ??
Sean: talk about junk cabling inside Klipsch; man it looks just like lamp cord. I was ready to rewire with D.I.Y. Kimber stuff (I even bought the wire). Then I learned that it will likely change speaker's voicing, especially if replacing copper wi...
I'm very upset. Let me tell you why.
Actually this price sounds about right. When I was doing engineering R&D for Motorola, a consumer products' D.M. (direct material cost) was spec'd to 10% of retail list price. So this is standard practice. D.M. of your harness was likely at le...
MIT bashed, not Transparent, why?
I used to laugh at networked cables too, but then I bought some MIT, & then bought some more. Also used to scoff at upgrade power cords (how could that possibly affect the sound?) but then I tried them, & then I bought some more. Ditto fo...
Pipedreams... Any thoughts?
Bozo: HOLM's demo is pretty impressive I agree; with an analog front end it was Wowzville. And wasn't that the smallest Pipedream model? Vision: if you have the room & the $ then I'd say go for it. Unfortunately I'm not so blessed.
Tweeter damage
Hans this was a horn tweeter; was in a Belle Klipsch speaker. I believe it was made by ElectroVoice. It was only slightly damaged & more audible at higher levels, but even at background level it was distorted. I fried the voice coil; it had so...
Favorite Designer
I must vote for Steve McCormack here! Just for starters, he pioneered the Mod Squad TipToes which have now assumed many variations / incantations from myriad manufacturers. Has built too many components to even mention; designed musically & af...
Tweeter damage
Certainly you can damage a tweeter such that it still outputs, but distorts. Been there done that. They warranteed it, but I do admit I really got carried away that time! I think I was playing Dire Straits... Amp On!
Running bi-wire cables backwards OK?
It's not because of the 'wire' its because of the network which appears electrically different at the input & output. So you can't simply reverse the cable unless you turn the network around oriented in its original direction. Not easy to do w...
Class Action Suit against UPS?
Very good luck here so far with FedX economy. UPS can only handle cables or other unbreakables, but FedX is pretty competitive now so why give the UPS baboons your money? I only ship that carrier if my customer specifically requests it. I always a...
Running bi-wire cables backwards OK?
Mgs. not advisable to reverse networked cables: the terminations electrically "look" different going the other direction.
