tonearm cable vs regular IC + ground wire
Not a stupid question at all. You can use any standard RCA interconnect and a separate single wire for ground. The key is to select a well shielded set of RCA interconnects to help prevent any induced hum.
Does XLO / Argntum still exist
XLO and Argentum were exhibiting at the California Audio Show held this past weekend. See numbers 5 & 93 in their exhibitors list: https://caaudioshow.com/cas6-exhibitors
Which cartridge in a Nottingham Analogue?
Does your phono stage have enough gain to support low output Moving Coil cartridges? Several on your list fall into this category which require additional gain from the phono input. If it does I'd suggest going with the Ortofon Quintet Blue as a g...
Absolute top tier DAC for standard res Redbook CD
I haven't heard any of those PMC models, but they use a unique transmission line loading that generally loads the room well but differently than sealed or other vented designs. Should be worth your effort to try them in your room if given the oppo...
Any comments on DAC directly to Power amp with no
In addition to the factors mentioned above by Czarivey, it often comes down to the quality of the active preamp you're considering. It is therefore recommended that you try it both ways in a given system to determine which way you prefer, as well ...
Pani ... New ART-9 up and running ...
Fleib - Thanks, that makes perfect sense.
Pani ... New ART-9 up and running ...
Fleib - With all due respect I would beg to differ with you on one point. I don't have much experience with mono carts, but I don't think that skating forces are eliminated (or even virtually so) with a mono cartridge. Skating forces are inherent ...
Anyone extensively test filters on latest Bricasti
Yes, and I've discussed them with Brian Zolner from Bricasti. For PCM playback Minimum Phase 0 is the generally agreed upon choice, but in some systems Minimum Phase 2 may be preferred. For DSD the DSD 0 setting is actually unfiltered. It sounds i...

Stillpoints LP Isolator Record Weight
I haven't had an opportunity to audition the Dalby D7 vinyl stabilizer, but at a reported price of $6,380 I would certainly expect it to be great! It appears to be beautifully finished like a piece of fine art.
Amari ultrasonic automatic RCM
The first Amari shown is an ultrasonic machine while the other is not (like the Hanss). The Hanss RC-20 is also available for $740 at Kosmic - http://www.kosmic.us/hanss-rc-20.html. Another look alike is the Music Hall WCS-2 for $749 - http://www....
Spectral DMC 20 phono with DMC 30 SS series 2 ?
This is generally accomplished by connecting your tonearm leads to the phono inputs of the DMC 20, and then connect the 20's tape outputs to a set of available line level inputs on the DMC 30. Leave the DMC 20 input selector set to phono with the ...
Acoustic Technologies Classic Series... Worth it??
Within their volume limitations, they do present a nice soundstage which encompasses a very wide listening area. Other than that they didn't do anything for me, and I couldn't imagine living with them as my main speaker system. For an alternative ...
ortofon 2m bronze vs rega Exact 2 cartridge
The Rega Exact 2 will be a perfect match for the Rega arm on the RP8, with all of the parameters for alignment and VTA optimized with its three point mount. While the Ortofon is arguably a better cartridge, getting it setup optimally in the Rega c...
