vandersteen 2ce sig/ 3a sig power requirements
Atagi, I found the Belles amp not to give up anything in soundstaging or any other significant factor. The amp ws reviewed in Soundstage(www.soundstage.com) by Doug Blackburn who also uses the 3A Signatures. I actually became interested in this am...
vandersteen 2ce sig/ 3a sig power requirements
It will be if you don't play the speakers very loud. The 3a Sig. is not a demanding electrical load but they do have a somewhat low impedance of less than 4 ohms over some of the range. They are also somewhat inefficient. I would try before I buy ...
Replaced caps and what a difference
I would also look at the Auricaps by Audience.
Fuse for the powercable compartment DNA 225
I thought it was listed in the manual. If not, call McCormack (Conrad Johnson) Also, look on the existing fuse. Usually, its type is listed on the fuse. should have amperage, voltage and type(probably slo-blow)
Best overall Speakers for $2,500.00 or less, New?
So what does it take to be a "Perfect" speaker? How about a frequency response of 29-21K + or - 3db or how about 32hz-21khz + or - 1.5db? How about premium crossover components, drivers and internal wiring? How about a minimal baffle, 1st order cr...
Vandersteen 3A vs new 2 Series ?
Your amp sounds substantial at 250/ch @ 8 ohms but remember, the Vandies dip to below 4 ohms in the lower frequencies. However, their phase angle remains fairly benign which makes them pretty easy to drive. As for the 3A vs the 2Ce Sig, the biggest...
Vandersteen-like "In-between" speakers
Thank you Zargon. I'll be looking forward to their official release. They certainly sound interesting especially the bass integration. I listened to the model 5's in Raleigh, NC a while back driven by Musical Fidelities 308 series. The room acoust...
Wiring Vandersteen's with Vandersteen Subs
The standard filter is available balanced. It uses 2 sets of caps instead of the one. They are matched to the input impedance of your amp just as the others are. Unfortunately, Vandersteen has chosen not to post any info. about any of the filters ...
Vandersteen-like "In-between" speakers
Thanks Zargon. Where did he put 2-8" subs as mentioned above? I honestly figured one sub in each speaker.
Wiring Vandersteen's with Vandersteen Subs
The Vandersteen filters go between the preamp and power amp. The module(whichever you have or will purchase) can be bought in balance or single ended configeration. It's best to put them at the end of the cables coming from the preamp. Plug those ...
Vandersteen-like "In-between" speakers
Vedric, Well, let us hope for the best. It sure would fit my room better and the pair of 2wq's is overkill. Is the woofer on the front of the speaker that Soundstage said was 6-1/2" actually an 8"? I was wondering where a 6-1/2" came from. I have ...
Sig N805 owners-sub?
I owned the 805's about 3 years ago. They do need a little help getting the bottom filled out. The problem I had was getting a sub to blend seemlessly with them. You need a fast sub which generally means a sealed enclosure. However, with the 805's...
SACD-Standard/Custom Filter
The standard filter utilizes a very steep cutoff filter at 20khz. The custom filter allows frequencies on out to 50khz. This shouldn't bother any modern amp or other equipment. When I owned an SCD-1, using the custom filter seemed to open things u...
Vandersteen-like "In-between" speakers
Vedric, according to Soundstage, the driver compliment is a 1" tweeter, 4 1/2" midrange, a 6 1/2" woofer and a 8" sub. If this is incorrect, then I stand corrected. I spoke to a friend that was at the CES show who had talked to Richard about the s...
Vandersteen-like "In-between" speakers
Vandersteen has reportedly made the statement that the Quatro is NOT the equivalent of the 3A Sigs and 2wq's. How could it be in the bottom especially? The 2wq uses 3-8" drivers, the Quatro uses 1-8" driver. No way are you going to move the same a...
