Jupiter Copper Foil, Paper & Wax Cap Versus Jensen Cap 0.10uF 630Vdc Copper Foil Ceramic
"Jupiter is richer sounding than Vcaps with better meat on the bones weight and body. Vcaps are more resolving and sharper leading edges. However this resolution comes with a slightly thinner sound."I don't agree with this statement.  The Jupiter ...
Is it possible to have vinyl nearly noise free?
I was at VPI last week and they make a cleaning machine and some other machine that cleans the groves.  They told me that it most cases, the Ps and Cs are eliminated.  Contact VPI in New Jersey and ask for Matt (owner) or Marc the office manager. ...
Why the fascination with subwoofers?
Sorry I did not read anyone's comments here but subs generally have an impact n the mid-range even on full range speakers.  It seems to relax the sound with better separation.  It is easy to try with any sub you can buy to hear what the impact is ...
Vinyl vs high def audio i.e. 24bit / 96 or 192khz
Once you get to hear the reference quality CD set-up and a reference quality TT set-up IMO there is no comparison.  TT just does something special that CD playback cannot reproduce.  I do not own a TT and probably won't but hearing is believing.Ha...
Best mid-range for $3K
The best mid-range that I ever heard was from the Alon V MKII speakers and the model above them the Circe model.  The Alnico mid-range driver was just magical.  The only thing I felt that competes is a field coil speaker design.Happy Listening.
Manufacturers pushing their products and agenda in the forums.
I guess that I am guilty of posting then also.  I hope that my experience and my advice to all Agon members from building components and repairing components is helpful as I was once on the other side.  I do not think that I push any of my product...
Audio Doctor goes to Axpona observations so far
Interesting to hear that Piega sounded good.  Way back when I heard them and had a pair at my home that Fremer was reviewing and my old B&Ws were just better.  Heard them again at the NY Audio show and was not impressed.  Are the ones now a ne...

Disco...yep, I'm going there
Oh God, I grew up in Brooklyn by the famous DISCO place.  Being a guitar player in a band I had to suffer through playing little guitar strumming crap and a few notes here and there.  I even wore a big fro with multiple colors in a Disco band.  Th...
How many audiophiles do you need to change a lightbulb?
Ah the age old question. I have researched all opinions, trials, studies, controlled lab testing and I have found out the correct answer and there is only this one answer.  The answer is.....  Oh, you thought that I was just going to give you my y...
Non-Oversampling (NOS) vs,
You cannot compare different DACs such as one that is NOS and another that does OS.  In my DAC, the NOS setting is way more musical, I built it that was for my own preference.  The OS has its benefits also on my DAC.  The soundstage gets wider, yo...
CD Transports
@cavy I did not buy the Jay Audio Transport to compare another, person in our group was looking for a transport. He was on a mission to try transports recommended I various audio site forums. First was the Cambridge and the NuPrime. Then an older ...
Ugrade-itis - is there a cure?
Only you can say what you prefer from your system.  BUT once you learn what makes a component sound the way it does, then you can figure out how to improve your system.  Understand different designs SS vs. tubes, how tube sizes make a difference (...
