Perception IMO I find that most people cannot tell what sounds good until one points out what the system is actually sounding like. I also find that most people have not actually heard enough to understand what makes a system sound the way it does and how t...
I went from Class D to Luxman A/AB - And most of what you think is wrong @snapsc - thank you for the follow-up. I know Tommy pretty well. He came to our audio group many times. I guess I should reach out to him and get a pair to audition. Thanks.
I went from Class D to Luxman A/AB - And most of what you think is wrong OK I have a question. I have not listened to a Class D amp in recent years. Way back I listened to the NuForce, Gilmore Raven and Channel Island Class D amps. The CI was nice sounding and the Gilmore was the clear favorite. The Nuforce did not ...
Up to date list of GaN Class D Amplifiers? You would think the 4X is an easy formula to go by. That does not include the chassis, box, manual, going to shows, advertising. If I went by the 4X rule, I would not make a penny in what I do.Happy Listening.
What are the advantages to a Class A amp & what are the trade offs? I recently built a Class A 35wpc power amp based on the First Watt design. The Class A was much better but I also use the best parts available and point-to-point wiring. I also recently upgraded a few Counterpoint hybrid power amps with bipolar ...
Buy a $40,000 used DAC for $4,000 or a new one for the same amount? I see all of your posts are asking the same thing. Just because a product retailed for $40K does not mean anything. I have read where people say something is built like a tank. All this means nothing until you understand design and what makes s...
Buy a pair of ten year old $40,000 speakers for $4,000 or new ones at that price point? DACs change too much and we need the newer technology. I guess I am wondering in what ways DACs have changed that much over the years? It is hard to answer a question where we do not have an idea of the product. The 10Ts are a good speaker for ...
Tone, Tone, Tone ! Why give up anything, just have it all? I have a DHT DAC that delivers all of these attributes in spades and a phono stage that is even better. I don't need to settle anymore.Happy Listening.
Bang for Buck I just repaired an old Counterpoint SA-3000 which includes a phono section. It is NOT an integrated unit just a preamp. The phono was quite good having a really nice, sweet mid-range, So that may be an option plus they are not that expensive and...
Recordings by Elton John, Nirvana and Thousands More Lost in Fire I have copies of all the originals so if you are interested, let me know. I will be giving them away at only $999.99 per copy!
Dealers and exaggerated treble Interesting enough all the comments. Personally I have found that most demonstrations are using servers to access music. I have not found that many that to my ears sounded as good as a good transport and DAC like a CEC, Metronome, Audiomeca tran...
Does anyone know if Michael Farnsworth, founder of Talon Audio, is still around? I think there was a company in New Jersey that bought out the Talon Name - tried Rives Audio if memory serves me correctly.
Vandersteen 7 mark ll or big Kef blades OK my two cents worth for everyone to ponder.First off, I never really liked the Vandersteen sound at any dealer that I heard them at. A few years back I bought a used pair of Vandersteen model 5s that were not in great cosmetic shape. Now under...
5A Vandersteen Vandersteen has a new model coming out this year. Kento???? if I remember correctly. Anyway I think in the $38K range.
If you still spin CDs, this may be the cost no object best option. @tubes444 I agree if you cannot tell the differences within 30 seconds then don't worry about it. If you can hear a big improvement, then you have a decision to make.Happy Listening. |
