Power Conditioner
I agree that my experience indicated that no conditioner sounded better after back and forth comparisons.   But you have to try them for yourself.  If you already have a conditioner that you feel works for you, then move on to another part of your...
Power - where to start? Mains, chords, conditioner, filter?
Cleaning the AC has an impact on sound.  It takes away AC noise that creates the black background, helps with having a clearer sound (less smearing), more definition with bass, etc.  Too much AC cleansing also can hurt the sound where it becomes n...
I need your suggestion for a Preamp.
I am in agreement to stay with the Levinson if you like the sound you are getting.  If all of them are SS then the sound may vary but IMO not significant enough.  Others are recommending tube preamps which will have probably have more impact on th...
CD Transports
@twoleftears1 See  my post above. We also had the NuPrime used s a transport.  The results were that it had very nice detail, very open and a nice balance top to bottom but overall it is not what some would call musical.  It took away the fullness...
CD Transports
To me it all comes down to how something sounds in your own system.  Specs, measurements do mean something but I doubt my old Audiomeca measures as good as the Cambridge but in direct comparison, the Meca walks allover the Cambridge for pure music...
CD Transports
I heard the Cambridge CXC and while it sounded nice it was far from the best transport I have used.  The Sim Audio I 5.3 CDP used as a transport sounded better.  An old Rega Apollo sounded even better.  The CEC Tl5100Z sounded even better.  The Au...

Turntable problem
probably not the motor but something to do with the voltage regulation.  Motors hardly burn out.  Check the wires to see if there is anything loose.

Vinyl***What If***
Back in the day you can find a TT labeled JC Penny that was actually made by CEC who made many TT back then for Marantz, etc.  Try something like that first, spend some money on a decent cartridge to see if that floats your boat@Happy Listening.
Differences between cd transports?
Heard an older model Sim CDP that we used as a transport.  We compared the SIM to the Rega though a DHT tube DAC and a highly modified Musical Fidelity DAC.  The Rega sounded a lot better in many ways to the older SIM.  Go figure.  Happy Listening.
Who makes great active preamps ? Tube or solid state or hybrid.
Depends on the sound you are looking for.  Many mentioned above are very good preamps.  I prefer point-to-point wiring and custom parts that most of the above do not offer.  Then there is tube types such as 12AX7, 6DJ8, 6SN7 and direct heated trio...
Differences between cd transports?
Um parts quality and power supply add to why one sounds better than the other, then there is the laser, plus tray loading or top clamp.  For example, a few CD transports have a separate power supply like the old Audiomeca and Metronome ones.  You ...
Am I deaf?
@mzkmxcv"Oppo has very good DACs, so you aren’t deaf, a cream of the crop $200 DAC and cream of the crop $20,000 DAC sound more similar than you might believe"What $20K DAC are you referring to? I am interested to know.Happy Listening.
We are buying and reviewing gear all wrong
I understand your post but what I don't understand is all the different recommendations and advice that I read about here on Audiogon.  For example, I have heard some of the equipment that I see recommended such as for this price X brand is a no b...
