+1 @mijostyn - the finest sub I've ever heard was from the “Bass Exciter” in a classic JBL L212 (3) piece package - it provided clean, even, low-end reproduction from 70Hz to ultra sonic frequencies. Didn't play at all like a newer “thumpy” subwoo...

LS3/5a - if you've never owned a set you should seriously consider these little wonders. Maybe go new with Graham Chartwell or vintage Rogers 16ohm. Shockingly great & one of the only speakers I've owned that totally live up to the hype. Just ...

gryphongryph +1 Graham LS5/9... I use an Aesthetix, Calypso Sig & Chord SPM-1200e on mine; no sub required in my med 18' x 26' size room. Been through a ton of standmount speakers & these are my jam!   (today anyway, lol)
