Are REL the most Musical Subs? +1 @mijostyn - the finest sub I've ever heard was from the “Bass Exciter” in a classic JBL L212 (3) piece package - it provided clean, even, low-end reproduction from 70Hz to ultra sonic frequencies. Didn't play at all like a newer “thumpy” subwoo...
Tune of the Day Ryan Adams, "Invisible Riverside" off Ashes & Fire. Playing the Montille tonight. What a special amp.
Tune of the Day Sure... fun stuff!
Tune of the Day Chuck Prophet, "High as Johnny Thunders" off The Land That Time Forgot - slinky cool album front to back
Small speaker advice LS3/5a - if you've never owned a set you should seriously consider these little wonders. Maybe go new with Graham Chartwell or vintage Rogers 16ohm. Shockingly great & one of the only speakers I've owned that totally live up to the hype. Just ...
High end bookshelf speakers for Small room gryphongryph +1 Graham LS5/9... I use an Aesthetix, Calypso Sig & Chord SPM-1200e on mine; no sub required in my med 18' x 26' size room. Been through a ton of standmount speakers & these are my jam! (today anyway, lol)

Amplifier Power tubes - important to sound? Recently bought a matched quad of 1st generation Genalex KT88 to replace some Winged C 6550 that I thought were terrific; paid what I felt was stupid money for the Genalex (of England) but had to give them a shot given their description. The Genal...
New speakers for a new start? Oh and +1 @stringreen on Vandersteen. 3A Signatures are another favorite of mine. Big, heavy and out of my wheelhouse but they are amazing speakers for sure capable of lighting up the OPs space beautifully.
New speakers for a new start? Don't have to be wary of Thiel. There are guys up in Boston who are experts on the brand and are deep in parts for all models. Rebuilt a set of CS 3.6 for me and they came back better than new. Drove them with a big classic Perreaux amp & pre....
Primaluna tube rolling 12AU7 Notes RCA Long Black Plate 12au7, RCA Clear Tops, and Brimar CV4003 are my favorites. I use Telefunken, Tungsram & Mazda in the 12ax7 slots - play them in a linestage & DAC and have found MY perfect combinations.
JBL's Marketing Blunder.. It’s actually brilliant & yes, without question girls in this agegroup speak EXACTLY like this. It’s pretty cute but is really just an extention of how they comunicate through SM. JBL gets it... these kids had JBL Pill Bluetooth speakers in co...
Pairing Bookshelf Speakers to my Yamaha A-S801 I'd say go for a new set of KEF R3 Meta. Couple of hundo over $2K but superior to the others in many ways. They are really VERY good and the Yamaha/KEF pairing has been a match made in heaven all the way back to the 80s & the Tweeter Etc days ...
McIntosh Sonus Faber love affair, alternatives? And @verdantaudio - clearly you get it ✅
McIntosh Sonus Faber love affair, alternatives? @emergingsoul yeah, that's a setup I put togther for a home office which ultimately morphed into much more of a listening room although I do get some work done in there, lol. I guess I'm still a fan of SF products just have had my fill of their re... |
