BEST fullrange speaker drivers in existence, 4"-10" diameter range, and...Go!
Not clear what you're asking. What do you mean by "fullrange"? Is this for a DIY speaker? Do you mean bass extension? Or single driver that best covers 20-20K cycles?

@profYes, that’s fair. Richard Hardesty outlined those benefits in his review of the Vandersteen 2WQ and I considered him a highly credible reviewer. Still, at my budget I want want something that crushes it from the mid bass up. Getting quality s...

Jim to take the bass as deep as possible in each model - because subs are inherently difficult. The CS2.4 has useful output down to ~30 Hz. The 3-series down to upper 20s. The CS7.2 down to the mid 20s. Compare those to the lowest fundamentals o...

KEF is highly regarded and Andrew Jones is a hall of fame level designer but I would stay with the Thiel. You *know* it’s beyond mid-level good, matches your stuff, and is made in US.
All in one Pre/Power/Streaming/DAC or Streaming Preamp/DAC combo ~$2k-4k recommendations
If you can stretch your budget, Ayre EX-8

630 V version has thicker film. Tom Thiel (and his sources) is confident that will sound better. We are putting 630 V on the coax feed (ie, 14 and 28 uF caps) for maximum SQ. Where you are runnng in parallel to get proper capacitance, you might us...

Do you really want to hear the crap from these dealers? I wonder how much of this is a genuine expression versus sales pitch designed to sow seeds of audiophile doubt in hopes of getting you to buy new speakers. High-end audio is hurting. These br...

@prof Tom Thiel described Thiel Audio’s measurements earlier in this thread, maybe February-May?

• Bad (compromised) information is in some ways more harmful than no information. Real anechoic chamber or outdoor measurements are expensive and Stereophile et al choose to side-step that expense without, in my opinion, proper contextualizat...

Too bad they don't measure at distances that allow for proper driver integration, time accuracy or actual listening positions. Most Thiels measured by Stereophile (at 50") show a suck out at the mid-tweeter XO point. Sometimes the text would ex...

Jim does not add the customary underdamped bass hump, so Thiel bass is honest. Teeheehee. I think I know which brand you're referring to ;^)Soundstage's loudspeaker measurements are done in a true anechoic chamber and, therefore, do not suffer t...

@andy2 The CS2.4 goes down to about 30 cycles in my room and I have them well away from walls. That’s enough to reproduce all but the left most one or two keys on a piano. Not much music down there. My previous speaker was Vandy 2CE Sig II, useful...
Looking for a preamp used under 5k
The recently discontinued Ayre K-5xeMP was the lowest priced Stereohile Class A rated preamp for several years. This is one on Audiogon right now for $2800.

If they need help, Rob will help you. If you want to take them to the next performance level, we'll have an upgrade path for you.   IMNSHO, buying a nice pair of used Thiels might become the most-cost-effective way to get near SOTA sound. For st...
