What is the science behind audiophile fuses?
What you believe comes down to how many Grateful Dead shows you saw in the 60s and 70s. Although I do wonder what kind of fuses Owsley Stanley used in those Mac 300 monos for the Wall of Sound. Regards, barts
Are your listening levels healthy? Doing damage?
Yes.  No. Regards, barts
Cable elevators
@jl35  No I don't.  But here is the vid  and it will start just prior to them going in the sound room.  It looks like they're using blocks under power cords(?!). There are several of Fremer taking a tour.  This is the best I can do........... h...
Cable elevators
I have no dog in this fight.  But I do find it interesting that the gentleman who listens to every piece of ARC gear prior to it leaving the factory uses cable risers in the factory listening room. Fremer has a video on YT which is a tour of the ...
Riddle me this....
@jea48  +1 Couldn't agree more.  May not make much difference on let's say organ music, but any percussive sound "needs" to start out as a push.  That is how you would hear it live. Regards, barts
Duntech Sovereign, Dunlavy IV, V, VI purchase make sense today?
I have only heard the Duntech Sovereign in a studio setting driven by Cello class A amps.  They are dynamic for sure!  The caveat to me is that they will play what ever you feed them good bad or indifferent.  With the proper input they are amazing...
DAC UPGRADE QUESTION
Me and an audiophile buddy of mine had a DAC shootout at his place. The three contestants were Mytech Brooklyn Bridge, Qutest and a Bryston BDA-3. Same day, same system, same tracks: the Mytech sounded "shrouded", the Qutest was better by a bunch...
Is simpler better?
The pendulum swings both ways.  Just like corporations decide to "centralize" and then decide to "decentralize". Fashion comes and goes, only to return again and again. The trend at this point seems to me to be simpler is better.  Hard to argue ...
Passive crossover power usage
@carlsbad2  I agree with your point concerning "less processing is better".  The reason I went with an electronic crossover is the control I get from the ability to alter the input level to each set of speakers in the box. I would say the bigges...
Passive crossover power usage
@erik_squires  I'm sorry you feel as though I wasted your time.  No, I didn't know the answer at all. Earlier that same day I was at a buddies house and we were discussing the possibility of me purchasing different speakers.  The reason being I'...
Passive crossover power usage
Thanks @erik_squires .  That's why I ripped the crossovers out of my speakers and use a Marchand 3-way electronic crossover and four amps to run my speakers. Two mono blocks for the woofers and two stereo amps for the mids and highs. A lot more c...
Where did the term "mono block" originate?
From ChatGPT: The term "mono" comes from the Greek word "monos," meaning "single" or "one." In audio terminology, "mono" is used to describe a single audio channel, as opposed to stereo, which involves two separate channels for left and right aud...
Complete vinyl system, TT to speakers, for $1500?
My son's SO has a Fluance "all in one" TT, amp, speakers.  I looked at it sideways, as in "I got one of these for Christmas 60 years ago".  Had a hint of bass, but the rest of it was all there.  Not sure, but would bet that it was one of their che...
Why Do Cables Matter?

Focal 1028BE - protecting speakers for a move
I have moved my Hartley Reference speakers (300 pounds each).  Remove grills and using very sturdy cardboard make a template, blue tape them on each speaker face.  Always protect the drivers.  Better safe then sorry and pissed off.  Whomever it is...
