What To Do?
"I spoke with the person who referred him to me, and he said that he's physically fine but just has a lot going on." If this person can tell you that he is fine and just has a lot going on, then it seems to me that he should be able to speak to h...
Why Streaming Service Sounds ‘Flat’ vs Tune In /Local FM /Radio Paradise
I just got a Bluesound Node 130 today from Crutchfield and just finished hooking it up.  Using it wirelessly in my garage system.  Just a straight setup with their cables (horrors!).  It only been playing about 90 minutes (WBGO Jazz out of Newark)...
Is there a way to switch one set of speakers between two sound systems?
Build your own box. Use a real pretty copper knife switch on top of the box such that one half is spkr A and the opposite side is speaker B.  "And never the twain shall meet"! Regards, barts
Sansui?
I purchased two Sansui AU-20000 integrated amps to  play 4 channel.  Also bought the matching TU-9900 tuner.  They were all special order units back then (1976 Japan).   Give your brother as wide a choice of Sansui components as possible and let ...
Up, over, and resampling
@cat_doorman  I would do a serious listening test of the same CD with different sample rates. Don't think there will much difference if any. Depending on the size of your collection (and other CDs you may borrow) you will end up with a sizable a...
any current integrated amps in market have great dacs?
@dave777tx  Yes the Boulder integrated has an outstanding DAC in it and is overall a fabulous product. Regards, barts
How easily can you distinguish between different DACs?
@mikelavigne  Hi Mike, I realize your playing in a different realm than I am, but I am curious what was better about the Wadax?  To paraphrase Good Fellas...Better, Better How? Not asking for a detailed answer, just the nickel tour.  Thanks Re...
How easily can you distinguish between different DACs?
A good friend of mine (and A'goner)  did a dac comparo some time ago.  A Mytec Brooklyn Bridge, a Chord Cutest and a Bryston BDA-3.  The differences were easily discernable particularly on strings and cymbals. The Bryston came out on top as soundi...
Something Fishy with Brian Hoyer
OK color me ignorant...What's up with Brian Hoyer?  Scamming people through A'gon concerning equipment purchases? Regards, barts
anyone else getting phishing popups ?
I always use Brave browser for the web, McAfee antivirus scans and removes all cookies, temp files etc once a week.  Amazing how much crap accumulates in a week. Also this computer is for email and web only.  So if it really gets slammed hard, I ...
All Pre 1970 Vintage speakers suck! Prove me wrong
@crustycoot  +1 I loved the Rectilinear 3s when they came out.  Couldn't even think about buying them.  I've spent hours listening to them...obviously all with analog gear.  They simply kicked my ass. I had to "settle" for Radio Shack gear.  And...
Audio Research Financial Troubles
@czarivey You nailed it.  Luxury items are a leading indicator.  I wonder how many people cut back on their Star Bucks purchases or is it what the hell do I care this is my treat to myself. @cleeds You nailed it as well with "so I'm actually cons...
Does an upgrade make sense?
+1 @socalml528  I have an original 1917 Victrola sitting on top of one of my speakers. Any time I feel as though my rig is not performing up to par, I check temps with an infrared gun.  Visually inspect.  Turn it all off. Go away and come back ...
Which to keep! Pick one of these two soeakers
Why did you buy this "other" system in the first place?  I'm guessing it was for one of the pieces of electronics?   So now presumably you have two complete systems.  If it were me I'd keep the best of the electronics and sell both pairs of speak...
Question about suitable fuse metals
@lcherepkai  Well if you're not concerned...then neither am I! But a better idea would be to go to the partsconnexion.com and sign up for their newsletter/sales flyer.  They have SR fuses on sale regularly. Regards, barts
