Roon Nucleus as a Streamer
+1 @big_greg I have a Roon Nucleus+ with 2TB internal drive and 3TB ext drive connected directly to it. The Nucleus+ is connected directly via USB to a Bryston BDA-3 DAC. Simple and clean and to my ears sounds great. Have a few TB of DSD on the...
Audio Research, AYON and Primaluna tube amplifiers.
www.arcdb.ws Is a virtually complete database/catalog of all the Audio Research products. It is not a product of the company, but an ARC fan who obviously is crazy about products.  Regards, barts
Michael Fremer leaves Analog Planet
@dover  +1 on the "advertorials" I had never laid eyes on that one before.  So true. Bring back J. Gordon Holt!  Regards, barts
Check this out, if you already haven't.
We all have our own afflictions...the only part I don't get is the many multiples of the same piece.  Now I feel less conflicted about my own afflictions. Regards, barts
What are we objectivists missing?
First of all, we are not listening to a cable, we are listening to a system, our system, which most people here know the sound of intimately. Here's a test:  How about you record your system playing real music at say 1 meter using "perfect" micro...
Politics and Music
Sting whom I admire greatly wrote quite a few political tunes. I typically prefer instrumentals as I can create my own story in my tiny brain. Regards, barts
DAC recommendation in 5 to 10K range
OP, I can understand wanting to go to a balanced output DAC,  but I have to ask what the DAC is plugged into?  Maybe your upgrade lies in the pre-amp?  Regards, barts
A perfect song? What are your choices?
Maria - original B'way cast. Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim Fill 'er up - Sting (several wonderful transitions)

Soundstage and image height, does it exist?
As many of you know the visual center of your brain uses a ton of "CPU cycles" to recreate what we perceive as our own reality.  When you take that processing load off your brain as a matter of course it uses whatever input is left and draws on pa...
Soundstage and image height, does it exist?
In my 50+ years of playing this "game" I have found that there certainly is height information that is being processed by your brain, albeit a phantom, as is the center channel. Moreover, to my ears this is very recording dependent, acoustic guit...
Best streamer for a returning audio guy
@twodogs112    I'm not sure why you took @ghdprentice to task for his latest post.  I do believe that you took it as a swipe at you and your equipment.  I have read perhaps 1000 of his posts and I have never seen him look down on anyone or their ...
Concerning high end audio names in new cars
Back in the day we were very happy with an 8 track head unit and a pair of 6x9s mounted on the rear deck. Fond memories. @jbhiller One of my buddies brother is a sound engineer and works for a year on a design cycle for a vehicle sound system. So...
Albums you do not get...a plea for help and understanding
Jersey boy here and I think that Springsteen is a hack.  Went to one concert of his back in the day and I will say they played their butts off. I'm a firm believer (right or wrong) that most people like the music they heard in their formative yea...
