Rebadging of Streaming Platforms @ghdprentice It's obvious that you actually have no idea what I think, just jumping to all kinds of conclusions. No need to jump on the bits is bits defense, I don't think that at all. I do think I would be much more likely to spend money on a D...
Best DACs under $7,000.00 @gregjacob If you have Daedalus speakers and aspire to LTA electronics, reach out to Nichloas at LTA. He owns Daedalus speakers and I know he has had extensive time with the Lampizator and the Holo Audio May DACs (and probably others). I own a ...
Rebadging of Streaming Platforms Everybody jumps to conclusions about the original post, but nobody has actually answered the question. I think the analogy that might best fit here is CD-Players. Yeah there are all kinds of DACs, power supplies, and other things that go into th...
Best DACs under $7,000.00 +1 for the Merason DAC1. It's towards the analog end of the spectrum while having a lot of detail, a very wide soundstage and excellent bass. Some folks love to focus on resolution, but I find that once you hit a certain level, more resolution i...
This is purely subjective opinion. Aqua LaScala/ Atma-Sphere Class D I've not heard the Atma-Sphere amps yet, but the other GaN amps I have heard (Technics G2700M2, Technics R1000, AGD Adion monoblocks) are all exceptional.
Jeff Rowland Aeris DAC Seeing as how you are hunting for a DAC, let me throw one more into the mix--the Merason DAC1. It only does 192 and no MQA so skip it if those are important to you. I auditioned it against the Weiss at my dealer's place a couple of times and too...
WEISS 501-502 DAC I think there is a belief that DACs have gone through huge improvements over the last ten years and the prices in the resale markets tend to support that. Honestly, if you audition something in your system and like it, that should be enough. A g...
Atma-Sphere Class D… Amazing Honestly, I think Atma-Sphere jumping into a "Class D', GaN amp is one of the most interesting developments in HiFi in a quite a while. I've always admired the Atma-Sphere OTL designs, but ended up wanting a slightly different sound so I went wit...
Class D Amplification Announcement @mervo "The LAPC and JENO circuits are real tech." YES! I was playing with the LAPC last night. It's pretty impressive.
Class D Amplification Announcement I'll only say that if I was searching in the sub $3K integrated category I haven't heard anything that touches the new Technics g700m2. You can drop it into a reference system and call it whatever class of amp you want. I played with the NAD M33...
NAD M33 issues, don't know where to start I had one for while and found it kind of un-engaging. Great bass, takes control of the speakers but (for me) it just didn't do it. Sold it and replaced it with a Gold Note IS-1000 which I much prefer. No cool display, but the tone seems much ri...
Need recommendations for a streamer @tksteingraber Out of curiosity, what did you have before the M5?
Just got a new Bluesound Node. Very disappointed! @lalitk I have no doubt the sound quality improved from the Node to the Lumin, put down your oscilloscope and actually listen for a change. I experimented with a Node 2i, iFi Zen Stream and Innuos Zenith MkIII all into two different DACS and each...
Kanta No.1 vs Olympica Nova 1? This speakers are so different that I would really work hard to demo both before spending the money. The Focal tweeters are often a love them/hate them thing for many folks and the Sonus Faber are (historically) a completely different and sometim...
DAC recommendation in 5 to 10K range Based on your description, I would check out the Merason DAC1. It's not going to do anything above 24 192, but it's the most organic sounding DAC I've heard at $6K, throws a huge soundstage and has excellent bass. Detail without sterility. |
