Wharfedale Linton Heritage 85th Anniversary
@big_katydid yes they look exactly like my former Harbeth C7ES3,  But that is where the similarities end.
Wharfedale Linton Heritage 85th Anniversary
@jbhiller Are you saying the Lintons have more bass than the Klipsch Forte III? I heard both extensively at AXPONA a few weeks ago and the Lintons has absolutely no bass or warmth, they were all midrange and sounded lo-fi and awful IMHO. The Forte...
Spendor D7, D9 but no love Classic 100?
@three_easy_payments Congrats on the D7s!   They take some running in as noted and some getting used to but they excel at making the music exciting.
Home demo. ProAc D48R and Spendor D9
I can state that the Spendor D7 (just below the D9) have the best piano sound I have ever heard in a speaker- better than my previous Harbeths which made piano sound excellent.  The Spendors make piano sound alive and real.
Worth the wait? Buchardt S400's
I listened to them for quite a while at AXPONA and for the most part agree with @smdesforges.  I wanted more transparency and presence.  The bass is great- truly a big speaker sound because of the passive radiator.I was disappointed because the hy...
Spendor D7, D9 but no love Classic 100?
@twoleftears the D7 speakers take a LONG time for the treble to balance out.  Mine took ~ 200 hours.  At first they were crazy bright and imbalanced.  They sound amazing now, bottom to top.  Never heard the classic series but had Harbeths previous...
PSB T3 I have not heard better bass from a floor standing/tower, have you? Under $7.5K
Yes.  The Spendor D7 speakers have much better bass response and definition.  There is something quite special about their slotted port design that makes placement forgiving and yields smooth, appropriately tactile and deep bass without peak or ex...
Spendor D9 vs. PSB T3 speakers.
I have not heard the D9 but have heard the PSB T3 and just recently purchased the Spendor D7.  The PSB is a very nice speaker with a smooth presentation but the bass response can be overdone and peaky / one note hard sounding.  The design if the S...
Axpona reviewers perceptions and reality
@prof Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately it really hit home at AXPONA this year just how poorly Stereophile reports on the sound of a room. I went to many of the same rooms and was reporting live on what I heard- no filtering- just stream of cons...
Axpona reviewers perceptions and reality
Everyone does hear differently but if you are in this hobby you should be able to tell a dud from a gem regardless of your preferences.  Same for professional reviewers.  Stereophile was overtly polite in their comments and simply were not being o...
Audio Doctor goes to Axpona observations so far
The sound of the PS audio system was disappointing- but it is very much a conscious decision by Paul and team to voice the speaker that way.  Overly bassy and soft, very lush and old school sounding.  Veiled and lacking any sort of modern speaker ...

@keithr If you were asking me I am running a Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum II all NOS tubes with my Spendor D7s.  Fantastic combination.

@seadog77 I’m currently doing an accelerated break in of a new pair of D7s. These need LOTS of time. I am approaching 200 hours and they are still changing for the better. The slightly hot upper midrange is gone. The vocals are full and just incre...

yes, i listened to a well seasoned set of 600ms and wondered what they were smoking.  FYI stereophile class C.  completely disappointed.  there are much better sounding speakers at and below this price point.   made me lose respect for all the peo...

If you appreciate midrange transparency and detail with richness and emotion check out the Salk Bagby Continuum-comes very close to the legendary Harbeth P3ESR at less than half the cost. Much more natural sounding than the LS50s IMHO.   http://ww...
