Amp for Harbeth P3ESR and Cambridge Audio Azur 851N
I had the Harbeth C7ES3 with a Rogue Cronus Magnum II and the combination was excellent.  The CM II should work well with the P3s.  The Sphinx should also sound very good but not close to the sound quality of the CM II.
My experience adding subwoofers to 2 channel
My experiences tuning subwoofers with main speakers is that the phase timing is critically important at crossover blend region where the subwoofers and main speakers transition between each other. An 80Hz wavelength is ~ 14 feet long and is small ...
Thoughts about Jadis and Harbeth
The Harbeth C7s are made for tube amplification. Easy to drive (6ohm minimum impedance) and the drivers are so well integrated and coherent that the sound stage becomes enormous when using a tube amplifier. I used a Rogue Cronus Magnum II with the...
Spendor D9 vs. PSB T3 speakers.
GEs produce incredible bass because of the built in powered woofers but fall short in midrange tone, timbre and transparency.  They are also highly directional with limited sweet spot.  Can be "flat" sounding with jazz and horns.  The PSBs are bas...
is the Tannoy Xt 8f a warm speaker??
the bass is overwhelming and boomy.  the upper midrange is edgy.  asking too much from an 8" driver to hand off to a dome tweeter.  the xt6f sounds worlds better.

Tim,Thanks.  I'm going to start a thread on this topic.
My experience adding subwoofers to 2 channel
I recently purchased some transmission line (like) ported towers and was unable to successfully integrate my single sub- so I sold it.  I have had no problems in the past with typical ported monitor speakers- and am quite good at integration using...
Wharfedale Linton Heritage 85th Anniversary
@buddy1234what kind of sound are you after ?  I have heard a number of those speakers and of those i like the Bryston.  however i personally would save or look for harbeth p3esr.
Speaker of the Century Award Goes To ....
while i own and enjoy a very nice set of 2.5 ways, i do hear some midrange congestion compared to previous 2-way and 3-way systems.  not bad, and these speakers are touted for being among the best in this category- but still noticeable.  i would r...
Most “disappeared” speakers.
Coherency between drivers matters to avoid image shift of notes that span the crossover region.  Most speakers that get this right will disappear if placed properly with respect to the listening position.  The most impressive demonstration of this...
Wharfedale Linton Heritage 85th Anniversary
@big_katydid yes they look exactly like my former Harbeth C7ES3,  But that is where the similarities end.
Wharfedale Linton Heritage 85th Anniversary
@jbhiller Are you saying the Lintons have more bass than the Klipsch Forte III? I heard both extensively at AXPONA a few weeks ago and the Lintons has absolutely no bass or warmth, they were all midrange and sounded lo-fi and awful IMHO. The Forte...
Spendor D7, D9 but no love Classic 100?
@three_easy_payments Congrats on the D7s!   They take some running in as noted and some getting used to but they excel at making the music exciting.
Home demo. ProAc D48R and Spendor D9
I can state that the Spendor D7 (just below the D9) have the best piano sound I have ever heard in a speaker- better than my previous Harbeths which made piano sound excellent.  The Spendors make piano sound alive and real.
Worth the wait? Buchardt S400's
I listened to them for quite a while at AXPONA and for the most part agree with @smdesforges.  I wanted more transparency and presence.  The bass is great- truly a big speaker sound because of the passive radiator.I was disappointed because the hy...
