Considering Harbeth C 7ES-3
you truly don't know what you've got until it's gone with the C7ES3.  they gave me so many moments where I just marveled at the sound and never anything to be irritated about.  but like a bonehead i had to complain about some slightly excessive en...
Considering Harbeth C 7ES-3
The C7ES3 treble is incredible and best in the Harbeth line IMHO.  Possibly the nicest sounding application of an aluminum dome that I have ever heard- natural but with a shimmering amount of air that adds trailing edge detail without going too fa...
Harbeth Super HL5+...thoughts
The 40.2s require lots of space (five feet plus) from back and side walls and a very robust amplifier to avoid sounding bloated.
Considering Harbeth C 7ES-3
I owned the C7ES3 for the better part of three years.  Position them right, use good quality stands and you will have one of the best sounding speakers on the market regardless of price.
Harbeth Super HL5+...thoughts
The SHL5+ is the speaker I should have bought a long time ago.....currently about 30+ hours into a new set and could not be happier.  Bass extension, impact and balance in the sound is perfect.   Midrange is legendary and the high frequencies have...
KEF R11 vs B&W 702 vs Golden Ear Triton 1.R vs?
Spendor D7 sounds better than any of the above.  R11 is metallic soundingTriton 1R is the best of your bunch but does not have top level transparency or driver coherence. B&W 702 lack refinement and can sound edgy. The D7s will sound phenomena...
I am Looking for That Elusive 3 Dimensional Room Filling Soundstage
KEF LS50s and a pair of JL Audio D108 subwoofers.  The point source, high polar dispersion of the LS50s will absolutely give you a 3-dimensional sound stage once they are properly positioned.
What does the term "Speed" mean in a speaker?
Speed is yet another quality that you may or may not want to prioritize in what you look for in a speaker.  The Spendor D7 for example are a fast, nimble speaker.  They have a good jump factor and respond quickly to slight changes in rhythm, a lig...
Best speakers 5k 10 k
Harbeth SHL5+.  I am finished thinking about different speakers.  Excellent deep bass definition, amazing midrange detail, realism and smoothness.  Sweet airy top end without overdoing it.   How Stereophile called these Class B is mystifying.
To those running Klipsch Forte IIIs...
@dromme different strokes i guess.    i happen to love harbeth speakers.  did you have the old version of the C7 or the latest version the ES3? regardless they have a polished rich sound that is not boring with the right amplifier, speaker placeme...
Speaker Analysis for Armchair Critics
the big thing I took away was how honest the reviewer was about the sound.  you NEVER see this in "pro" or online amateur reviews.
< $3000 speaker recommendation for tube integrated amp?
a discounted pair of Spendor A4 floorstanders will do the job nicely.  Spendors are the perfect blend of a fast, highly responsive speaker that doesn't come with any of the compromises associated with a high sensitivity speaker.
Standmount speakers. I have $5000.
Those Joseph Audio Pulsars under $4K?  Thread over.
High value, giant killer speakers?
unfortunately when it is all said and done we tend to get what we pay for more or less. not to say that a $7000 pair of Spendors sounds $6500 better than a $500 pair of Klipsch bookshelf speakers -  but we usually get better sound for the dollar a...
