New Pre/Pro for 2 ch guy? (+How easy to set up RC in top units like Lyngdorf, etc)?
It’s going to be really hard to beat the Krell S1200 because nobody uses discrete analog stages in processors anymore. Everything is op amp based (which can be good, but just doesn’t compare with the discrete Class A analog stages in the Krell). A...
12v linear power supply
I have not done any testing for linear power supplies on things such as network music servers or network switches, so I cannot comment on if this makes a difference. However, any digital transport will be improved by a linear power supply, regardl...
I'm not sure what I need
What's your budget?  If money was not an issue, I would probably recommend a used Krell Foundation 4K processor.  It's a 7.1 processor, so it doesn't have all the extra channels and junk for atmos stuff.  But they are in the $4.5k price range. A ...
Which amp for B&W 805 D3 and HTM2 D3 speakers - Rotel RMB-1555?
The retail on the Onkyo TX-RZ50 is $1400.  Other receivers (Yamaha, Marantz, etc.) are also in the same price range.  You are better off stretching your budget and going for a used Anthem AVM-60 processor in the $1900-2200 range.  Much better powe...
I need a subwoofer recomendation
What are you basing these assertions on?  I’ve never read any review that says SVS subs sound like this.  Further, I own an SB2000 and would not at all categorize them as “larger-than-life type boomy” sound.  These are my own listening opinions...

Anthem AVM-60?
Roku ultra streaming versus Apple 4K TV
So why aren’t there any designed Products to better play audio coming from a streaming source??? Roku is a mass produced product that is marketed to the large consumer market.  (same with AppleTV and Amazon Fire TV).  Their business is keeping ...
Which amp for B&W 805 D3 and HTM2 D3 speakers - Rotel RMB-1555?
The smaller 1555 could start to run out of gas on movies when you start turning up the volume pretty high.
Which amp for B&W 805 D3 and HTM2 D3 speakers - Rotel RMB-1555?
By the way, I am driving my 805 D3 bookshelves with 1000 watt monoblocks.  You don't really buy high power amps because you are gong to use all that power.  You buy hi power amps to get the largest power supply.  This ensures smoothest and stronge...
I need a subwoofer recomendation
Rel are good subs, but they are very clean sounding and may not have enough "grit" for home theater rumble. Hsu might be okay, but be aware that those triangle ports have a lot of port noise.  This sounds like "chuffing" when the woofer moves a l...
12v linear power supply
FYI, the ifi audio iPower Elite is not a linear power supply.  It may be better than your normal switching "wal-wart" power adapters, but it is still a switching power supply.
Schiit Yggdrassil Fuse Value
For preamp and DAC type devices, I usually use a 2A fuse.  You may want to open up your Yggdrassil to get the actual fuse value.  It looks like it uses a small 5mm x 20mm fuse.  It's mounted right next to the IEC power connector on the board.
12v linear power supply
Most DACs or preamps or small a/v devices will use less than 1 amp, so a 2A linear power supply will be just fine.  If you want to go for a 4A, it will not hurt anything.  If you have something like a video processor device (such as Lumegan) or a...
12v linear power supply
What amp rating do you need?  If it's for a low power device such as a DAC, then you can get away with a 2A power supply.  I think the best you are going to do is keep your eye out for a used SBooster 12-13V model.  They sometimes are sold in the ...
DH labs versus audio quest, HDMI
I was disappointed when testing a $400+ Audioquest Vodka cable.  This made sense after I found out it uses very small 30awg conductors.  Audioquest does some things good, but they missed the boat on the HDMI cables. If you want a really nice cabl...
