Roku ultra streaming versus Apple 4K TV
If you look at stock parts, it has been discussed that the "stock" AppleTV is probably the best audio quality when compared to "stock" Roku.  I cannot really say for sure because I have not done a side-by-side comparison. When you upgrade the Rok...
Is there a solid fuse-like item that I can use in place of a fuse, to bypass it?
Fuses do not affect the sound.  If they did, do you think manufacturers of thousands of dollars' worth of equipment would not already put some 'audiophile' fuses in them to make their equipment sound better ? Sorry, but I disagree from extensiv...
Is there a solid fuse-like item that I can use in place of a fuse, to bypass it?
Ok, sand filled fuses may be to prevent glass shatter.  Those are more industrial type fuses.  However, audiophile fuses can use an oil type or powder type filler to reduce/damping electro-mechanical resonance.
Is the Apple TV power cord worth upgrading? HDMI, Ethernet?
AppleTV might be improved with an upgraded power cord, but it still uses an internal switching power supply.  This is the main limiting factor on these streamer boxes.  If you are willing to look at an alternative to the AppleTV, my recommendatio...
Is there a solid fuse-like item that I can use in place of a fuse, to bypass it?
Now I can see why companies are filling the fuse canisters with sand/epoxy/oil or whatever, its to keep the damn thing from dancing. That dancing in the animated gif is actually an extreme version of electro-mechanical resonance.  This is anoth...
Is there a solid fuse-like item that I can use in place of a fuse, to bypass it?
WARNING: there are several people here on this thread that are recommending replacing a fuse with solid material (whether they are serious or joking). This is not a good idea. The idea of a fuse is not to protect your equipment, but to protect you...
Problems connecting my Sony Bravia TV to Hegel h360 integrated
You might look for "digital output" configuration on your TV.  Many video devices will default to use surround type encoding, such as Dolby Digital or DTS.  Some video devices allow you to change this configuration to "Stereo".   All the integrate...
Parasound vs Emotiva
I have an A23+ and it just does everything right. It sounds correct to my ear in my calibrated audio system. It beat the living hell out of a $3000 Class D Gan amp. Most of the Class D amps have never impressed me, even the ones for tens of tho...
Luxman M-900U in bridged mono or McIntosh MC1.25kw with B&W 800 D3
The McIntosh amp is going to sound very nice and can sound special if paired with a high resolution speaker (such as the B&W D3). However, the McIntosh has a laid back presentation in the mids and highs. While it can sound very nice, it may no...
Pre, pro $3k
I would probably avoid the Marantz 7706 in your case because your using Parasound amps, which are voiced slightly on the warm side anyways and don't have a very good high frequency response.  You would lose too much resolution by going with the 77...
mcintosh mx units
Some of these older HT Processors, like the MX-132, are actually hidden gems and make excellent analog preamps.  They just don't support the newer digital/video stuff.  But MX-132 is getting long in the tooth and those electrolytic capacitors are ...
What power cord do you use for your processor?
Yes, absolutely helped the sound quality.  This is true for upgrading power cord on any audio equipment.  As far as "noise generated within the processor", that depends highly on processor architecture and things like cheap capacitors or switchin...
mcintosh mx units
In addition to missing balanced XLR outputs, the MX-132 does not even have HDMI support.  This puts the processor at 15 or more years old.  The newer processors that support HDMI 1.4 and even HDMI 2.0 for 4K are going to be much more expensive, ev...
What power cord do you use for your processor?
Used Audioquest NRG-4 power cord.  Chop the ends and put on Furutech FI-15 Rhodium connectors.
whats the best pre amp to pair with Bryston 4b cubed? A
I tried a set of 7b3 monoblocks in my system at one point in time.  It turned out to be pretty good after an internal fuse upgrade, but the overall sound was thin in bass, midbass, midrange.  I would pair this with a very thick sounding preamp wit...
