Does the first reflection point actually matter??
The first sidewall reflection point matters in the design of a recording studio control room. Those I have been involved in used angles which direct the reflections away from the normal listening position. In rooms where that’s not an option, appa...
Who puts their speakers right up against the back wall and why?
Boundary reinforcement issues can be addressed by taking them into account in the design stage. So can coloration due to wrap-around reflection energy (by using directional speakers, like the aforementioned Klipsch). The remaining issue is soundst...

Speaker suggestions for Levinson
Welcome rwatson, Jazz Musician! My first successful home audio speakers were called the "Jazz Modules", obviously designed with YOU in mind. Alas some critical parts became unobtainium so they were discontinued. Dangit!! In addition to home audio,...
Shipping. Hard Lesson.
Since UPS did the packing, imo you have a good chance of getting a favorable settlement. I think their default response in the event of shipping damage is to automatically deny all claims on the grounds of "inadequate packaging", which they can’t ...

Sunujing, I know you said that the size needed to be similar to your Revels, and that they couldn’t be placed more than 3 feet out into the room. Might speakers considerably larger than the Revels be a possibility if they are designed to go up aga...

Best Speakers for a small Nearfield room, budget at most $10000 (used is also ok)
Ayanamisk, thanks for responding to my question a few days ago. These thoughts come to mind regarding the challenges in a small room: First, the reflection path lengths will be relatively short, so the reflections will arrive earlier. Second, low-...

Is this a dedicated listening room? In other words, do you have essentially free reign to do what you want in it?  If not, what are your speaker positioning (and any other) constraints?  Thanks!  Duke

"I talked to Jordan from asc... He tells me the dispersion pattern for the blades and Sonja are very similar and not much changes would need to be done to room treatment."    Good call talking with him. What he says makes sense to me.   Duke

My impression (based unfortunately on listening in very different rooms) is that the YG Sonja 2 has more energy at the frequency extremes and is the "flatter" of the two, while the Magico M3 is "warmer". As to which is the better match for your Ay...
Single driver vs traditional 3 way loudspeakers
@bache wrote: " What Bache audio ultimately gravitated towards was the so-called “augmented wide-band” (AWB) speaker, which uses a single wide-band driver that covers a large portion of the audible frequency band accompanied by several of what he ...
Single driver vs traditional 3 way loudspeakers
In my opinion a good "fullrange" driver can do many things well, but the frequency extremes are generally not among them.  I'd be inclined to keep bass frequencies out of it and use a dedicated woofer, and to add a tweeter to improve the top-end d...
