Anyone Here Have Atma-Sphere Amps? If it was red, it was an employee's set of M-60 power amps.
Distortions that the human ear likes. Are there any ? Here's the problem: All electronics make significant distortion, even though on paper it looks 'low'. But what is on paper is pretty much the Emperor's New Clothes. However, the ear has a masking principle and in audio its sort of come to our rescu...
I'm having a really hard time with: "Power cable reduced my soundstage"... My good friend that is in the business and very very knowledgeable calmed that a well made 10ga power cable reduced his soundstage... I'm not saying it will or won't but why would it? I would like to know the science behind this. I did research...
Jupiter Copper Foil, Paper & Wax Cap Versus Jensen Cap 0.10uF 630Vdc Copper Foil Ceramic The bypass caps are still $100 each and I am wondering whether to just go the whole hog and purchase the Duelund Capacitor 0.1uF 630Vdc CAST-PIO-Cu (Sn).How close would the Jensen plus Duelund combination come to sounding as good as the Duelund...
Need a preamp? The Cary is not the most neutral preamp around IMO. So a passive would work quite well in your situation as you already know. I think you can get switch boxes to switch between inputs. Since you already have an internal volume control in the amps ...
Recommendation for higher power tube amp Efficient speakers MAY help, but an efficient speaker may introduce a difficult load for that particular amp. The crossovers or some other feature may confuse the amp.IME this is an *extreme* rarity. Usually efficient speakers are a much easier ...
Digital Cabling questions in new set-up With digital cabling the characteristic impedance of the cable will have a big impact on how many errors you get. The better controlled the less errors- which means such a cable can go faster. So pay attention to what the equipment is set up for- ...
Why the fascination with subwoofers? you CAN have bass that is accurate, detailed, smooth, natural and effortless with two subs, end of story. Sure. That is why I qualified my comment: **If** you encounter a standing wave, it often cannot be fixed with only 2 subs. And it can't be f...
Thoughts on a new tube amp for high end rig? The last piece! Wilsons have always been easy to drive; apparently the phase angles are not bad on their current lineup. A set of MA-2s will be fine with this speaker.
Conrad Johnson ART amps - Watts at 8 ohms vs 4 ohms The idea with most loudspeakers (but by no means all) is to drive them with something called a 'voltage source'. A voltage source simply is able to make the same voltage regardless of load.Tubes can do this, but only up to their power limit, which...
Why the fascination with subwoofers? Dear @noble100 : """ All DBA systems will provide accurate, detailed, smooth and natural bass that has an effortless quality to it. """as can do it non DBA subs system. This statement is false. If you encounter a standing wave, it often cannot be f...
Amp shut off and came back again. 2" is insufficient room for cooling above most amplifiers! For a space that restricted I would use a fan for cooling. You need a good 10" to a foot above the amp- otherwise even though the heat might not trip the protection, the amp will be runnin...
Recommendation for higher power tube amp OK- we can do the math again. 200 watts is about 4x the power of the amp in the OP. That's about 6dB. So the speakers are ***84dB 1 watt/1 meter***! If a speaker that was only 90 dB (which is easy to find) the amp he has now would make the same so...
Turntable Mat question @rocky1313 Others have given you the clarification you asked for as well as I could.
Permanent 50hz If you have to put your ear to the speaker to hear any artifact its quite literally no concern. Almost any amplifier will have some audible artifact in that situation.Don' worry'bout it. |
